We’re actively seeking a talented Real Estate Senior Director to join our Real Estate Commercial Mortgage Originations team in Bethesda, MD.
Job-level may vary based on skills and experience.
As a Senior Director, you’ll play a key role in Pacific Life’s growth and long-term success by performing in a lead production role to solicit, structure and underwrite commercial and multifamily mortgage loan transactions. Your efforts will support the Real Estate Commercial Mortgage team as a senior member of the Eastern Regional Office, managing new loan production in key markets including Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, DC, Virginia, Georgia, and the Carolinas. This includes providing underwriting, due diligence, analytical and closing support. Pacific Life’s Commercial Mortgage team focuses on a variety of property types and strategies across the United States including construction, permanent, bridge and fixed and floating-rate loans.
Note: Travel required to evaluate investment markets and opportunities.
How you’ll help move us forward:
- Interface with institutional-quality borrowers, brokers, and third-party service providers. Develop and leverage market knowledge and commercial real estate network to source loan production for the Pacific Life general account.
- Work cohesively with Pacific Life Investments in-house mortgage loan origination teams, closing, construction services, asset management, capital markets, and loan servicing teams.
- Perform and direct complete due diligence and negotiations on prospective mortgage transactions. This includes providing analytical and underwriting support to determine the merits and risks of investment opportunities to meet investment objectives and internal underwriting guidelines.
- Recommend and complete appropriate debt investments that deliver performance consistent with projected asset returns, including risk-based capital and credit performance considerations.
- Supervise and develop junior level staff to advance within the organization and contribute to the production goals of the department.
- Prepare investment packages including terms sheets, property spreadsheets, and analyses related to cash flow, valuation and comparables. Investment packages will include narrative and conclusions on the property, the market, and the sponsor/partner.
- Serve in a lead marketing role with responsibility for certain markets/prospects/ clients and direct workflow and market assignments of junior staff.
- Present verbal and written recommendations to Pacific Life’s Real Estate Investment Committee.
The experience you bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Math, Economics, Real Estate or related field from four-year college or university. MBA, Masters in Real Estate or equivalent preferred.
- 7-10 years related experience with multi-family, industrial, and office asset types
- Strong math and finance skills are essential, together with proficiency in Microsoft Office programs. Special emphasis on Excel spreadsheet command and originations pipeline software. Ability to quickly learn new program applications.
- Excellent analytical, research and creative problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communications and presentation skills, able to interface with top level executives.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize workflow and deadlines, self-starter with the ability to work independently with a team player attitude.
What makes you stand out:
- A Master’s Degree in Real Estate or MBA – strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with Argus strongly preferred.
Base Pay Range:
The base pay range noted represents the company’s good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.
