The Team

The Divisional Capital Management & Reporting team (CM&R) sits within the Corporate Actuarial function in Divisional Business Services (DBS) at Pacific Life Re.

The team is responsible for capital management and consolidated solvency reporting across the Group, covering both the internal Economic Capital (EC) framework and the Bermuda Monetary Authority (BMA) regulatory basis. Our focus is on developing a deep, forward-looking understanding of capital drivers across both bases and translating this into value-adding insight that informs strategy, risk appetite, and decision-making.

The team works closely with the Global Valuation Team, the Protection and S&R Actuarial Analytics & Insights teams, Divisional Finance, Risk, and the Enterprise capital management teams. The role involves regular interaction with actuaries, accountants, systems developers, and risk professionals across multiple jurisdictions including Sydney, Singapore, Bermuda, Toronto, and Newport Beach, California.

The Role

We are seeking a self-starting, inquisitive individual with proven experience of working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment to join as a senior member of the team. You will play a central role in shaping how the Pacific Life Re plans, forecasts, deploys, and reports capital, ensuring that capital frameworks are robust, well-governed, and aligned to our strategic growth objectives. You will manage a consistently busy schedule of capital management and capital reporting activity across the organisation, giving you the opportunity to influence a wide range of workstreams, challenges and strategic decisions from day one.

This role is well suited to someone who thrives in complex, fast-moving environments, enjoys owning end-to-end processes, and excels at converting technical analysis into clear, commercial insight for senior audiences.

Key responsibilities

You will be involved in some or all of the following

Deliver High-Quality Capital Reporting Insights

  • Produce and communicate high-quality capital MI for senior leadership, Boards and regulatory submissions. This will cover solvency, ALM, currency exposure, insurance risks, diversification, new business impacts, and drivers of movements; and
  • Provide expert support to senior leadership, Boards, Risk function and other Enterprise stakeholders on ad hoc matters, including capital impacts of transactions, strategy changes, and regulatory developments.

Capital Management Initiatives

  • Identify, develop, implement, monitor and iterate Division-wide capital management initiatives; and
  • Translate complex model outputs and analysis into clear, actionable strategic recommendations.

Capital Planning & Forecasting

  • The development, consolidation, and delivery of the multi-year capital plan for the Division;
  • Production of solvency forecasts, including the identification and monitoring of emerging risks; and
  • Stress and scenario testing (including CISSA), ensuring consistency and alignment across regions and stakeholders.

Shape Process, Governance & Transformation

  • Strengthen control frameworks (materiality, version control, documentation, operational event logging) across the team; and
  • Improves processes across the CM&R team

Lead, Coach & Develop

  • Manage and mentor analysts and actuaries within the Capital Management and Reporting team, provide coaching, oversight and technical guidance; and
  • Embed a culture of accountability, curiosity, continuous improvement and collaboration.

About you

You will be technically strong, commercially minded, and comfortable operating in ambiguity and under competing priorities. You will excel at cutting through complexity, and delivering high-quality outputs across a demanding and varied capital management agenda. You will have good communication skills, with the ability to negotiate, challenge, and explain complex topics clearly and concisely. With frequent exposure to the Chief Actuary and senior leadership, the ability to quickly understand requirements, prioritise effectively, and deliver meaningful results is essential.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential Qualifications

  • Fellow of Institute & Faculty of Actuaries, Society of Actuaries, or similar experience

Desirable Experience

  • Capital management experience, preferably experience of both economic and regulatory frameworks (e.g. Solvency II);

  • BMA regulatory capital experience;

Essential skills

  • Strong knowledge of capital reporting bases;

  • Ability to handle large volumes of information, identify the most relevant points and connect information to see the “bigger picture”;

  • Attention to detail;

  • Excellent communication skills, with clear written and verbal communication that is adapted to the stakeholder;

  • Ability to manage and deliver multiple priorities calmly under pressure; and

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with a proven ability to build meaningful, collaborative relationships.

Salary: $143,100.00 - $166, 950.00 CAD annually

Compensation Range

The compensation range noted represents the company’s good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location.
