What You'll Be Doing
Reporting to the Senior Director, Business Application Management, the Director, Client Data & Intelligence Platforms is a senior leader responsible for the delivery and ongoing management of the data and intelligence platforms that support Transactional Banking (TB) and Commercial Banking (CB). This includes the CRM, Billing, Lending, and Data platforms that enable client onboarding, service delivery, sales execution, and performance reporting across TB business lines.
This role sits at the intersection of data, technology, and the business, working closely with product, frontline, and back-office teams to ensure platforms and intelligence capabilities directly reflect how TB operates and serves its stakeholders. As the function matures, this role will have the opportunity to build and lead a dedicated data and analytics team.
At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. To successfully perform the work, you'll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you'll spend 3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.
How You'll Succeed
Product, Frontline & Back-Office Collaboration - Work closely with Product teams to ensure data and intelligence platforms are built around real business workflows, user needs, and product priorities and technical specifications. Engage directly with frontline teams (Sales, Client Onboarding, Relationship Managers) to understand how they use data day-to-day, surface friction points, and translate those insights into platform improvements. Partner with back-office teams (Operations, Middle Office, Finance) to align data flows, reporting requirements, and process automation needs with platform capabilities. Act as the connective tissue between the data and technology world and the people who rely on these platforms, ensuring what gets built is relevant, adopted, and continuously refined based on real business feedback.
Vendor Management & Governance - Manage third-party vendors to ensure reliable platform support, delivery of enhancements, seamless integration with CIBC systems, and rigorous pre-deployment testing. Maintain clear governance over platform decisions, change management, and investment tracking, ensuring accountability and transparency with stakeholders. Embed data quality standards, data management best practices, and privacy-by-design principles into platform operations in partnership with Legal, Compliance, and Risk teams.
Training, Adoption & Team Building - Design and deliver training programs and communications that enable TB stakeholders to confidently adopt and use platform capabilities after launches and enhancements. Champion a data-driven culture within TB by evangelizing platform capabilities and helping frontline and back-office teams unlock new use cases. As the function grows, define the talent and organizational model for a dedicated data and analytics team, including recruiting, onboarding, and developing the right people to scale the capability.
Who You Are
You can demonstrate experience with Transactional Banking, Cash Management, or Commercial Lending and with the business applications that support these businesses (CRM, Billing, Lending, and Data platforms).
You embrace and advocate for change. You have a strong track record in platform delivery and business application management in a regulated financial services environment.
You're digitally savvy with strong hands-on experience with data and analytics tools, dashboard development, cloud infrastructure on Azure, application lifecycle management, and working closely with enterprise technology partners.
You have deep knowledge of data management practices and concepts including data governance, data quality, metadata management, master data management, and data lineage, and know how to apply these in a complex, regulated environment.
You have strong experience in data architecture, particularly on Azure cloud platforms (e.g. Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Lake, Databricks), and can engage credibly with architects and engineers on platform design decisions.
You are skilled in data consumption and insights. You know how to design reporting layers, self-serve analytics tools, and insight frameworks that make data accessible and actionable for business users across frontline, product, and back-office functions.
You're goal oriented with 10+ years of progressive experience in data, technology, or data application management roles. You are comfortable driving outcomes independently and through influence, working across product, frontline, and back-office teams in both Waterfall and Agile environments.
You're a natural collaborator. You have experience working with diverse stakeholders and know how to build relationships that get things done.
You're excited by the opportunity to establish and grow a data and analytics capability from the ground up, including over time building and leading your own team.
You have strong communication and facilitation skills, able to explain complex technical topics clearly to business stakeholders and translate business needs into platform requirements.
Values matter to you. You bring your real self to work and you live our values: trust, teamwork, and accountability.
