Job Description
Job Summary
The Hexagon SmartPlant Administrator is responsible for the configuration, customization, administration, and ongoing operational support of the Intergraph SmartPlant suite of engineering design applications which includes Smart P&ID, Smart Instrumentation, Smart Electrical and Smart 3D applications. This role ensures system stability, data integrity, user enablement, and alignment of SmartPlant environments with engineering and project needs.
The SmartPlant Administrator works closely with engineering disciplines, IT, and project teams to support the full lifecycle of SmartPlant applications.
Key Responsibilities
• Able to administer Hexagon Smart P&ID, Smart Instrumentation, Smart Electrical and Smart 3D applications.
• Configure application environments, databases, and interfaces to meet project and organizational requirements.
• Manage application settings, schemas, and reference data to ensure consistent and standardized use across projects.
• Create and maintain user accounts, roles, permissions, and access controls.
• Customize SmartPlant configurations to support project workflows, engineering standards, and data governance requirements.
• Configure reports, queries, and dashboards to support engineering and management needs.
• Support integration within the tools using SmartPlant Foundation and across other enterprise systems such as document management, and centralized data management platforms.
• Assist in scripting or use of vendor tools to automate administrative and maintenance tasks.
• Provide day-to-day application support, troubleshooting, and issue resolution for SmartPlant users.
• Collaborate with IT and software vendors to resolve core application issues.
• Develop, maintain, and enforce administrative procedures and best practices.
• Support data migration, data loads, and validation activities.
• Participate in system upgrades, patches, and new module implementations.
• Identify opportunities to improve usability, performance, and reliability of SmartPlant systems.
• Maintain system documentation, including configurations, procedures, and support guides.
• Experience with AVEVA E3D application administration is considered an asset.

Management Responsibilities
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree, Diploma, or equivalent experience in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Minimum 15 years of experience administering Hexagon SmartPlant applications.
• Experience with SQL Server and/or Oracle databases.
• Understanding of engineering data workflows and multi-discipline design environments.
• Experience with system integrations and data exchange standards.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and support concurrent projects.
Technical Skills:
- Advanced knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable design guides and standards related to assigned engineering discipline
- Intermediate knowledge of other disciplines
- Advanced ability to interpret engineering deliverable content as assigned
- Intermediate industry knowledge and technology trends
- Intermediate knowledge of company quality program
- Intermediate knowledge of construction and constructability practices and principles
- Intermediate knowledge of procurement and contract administration
- Working knowledge of process, procedures for project controls and estimating
- Intermediate knowledge of technical aspects of the proposal process

- Intermediate knowledge of company/division/HR programs, policies, procedures, and organization structure
