The Opportunity: As the IT Infrastructure Supervisor, you will provide strategic oversight and leadership for our Infrastructure unit. This role is responsible for guiding a team of IT specialists, ensuring the integrity of our network topology, maintaining comprehensive security protocols, and directing complex systems design. The ideal candidate is a well-rounded professional who balances strong technical expertise with excellent leadership skills.
Core Responsibilities:
Team Leadership and Administration
Supervise and Guide: Lead the Infrastructure unit by assigning, prioritizing, and reviewing daily work and long-term objectives.
Performance Management: Evaluate staff performance, conduct regular team meetings, and foster professional growth.
Governance: Establish, implement, and enforce unit-wide policies, procedures, and documentation standards.
Systems Analysis and Technical Support
Infrastructure Design: Analyze user needs, evaluate existing functions, and design complex computer systems.
Escalation Support: Act as a technical sounding board, assisting staff in resolving complex computer/infrastructure problems and answering high-level technical questions.
Quality Assurance: Review comprehensive program and system documentation as well as test results to ensure optimal deployment quality.
Network and Security Management
Infrastructure and Security Management: Oversee the agency’s network topology and maintenance of internal security applications, including but not limited to Workspace, CrowdStrike, Qualys, Chronicle, and Absolute.
Application Security: Assist in defining robust system security frameworks for in-house developed or installed applications.
Project Planning and Monitoring
Project Management: Plan, monitor, and execute unit projects and operational activities. Formulate and implement unit policies, track progress, provide regular status reports, and respond to changes in project scope.
Resource Optimization: Define project resource requirements, develop cost-benefit analyses, create accurate time and cost estimates, and track progress against milestones.
Requirements and Solution Design: Meet with stakeholders and gather user requirements to clearly define operational problems, develop comprehensive project plans, and design effective technical solutions.
Cross-Division Collaboration: Provide technical development insights and documentation standards to the IT Division. Facilitate post-project lessons-learned discussions and documentation sessions to drive continuous improvement.

Or completion of undergraduate core coursework in computer science, or completion of undergraduate core coursework in any academic major which included at least one course in each of the following: advanced-level computer programming language (for example, COBOL, Delphi, Java, Powerbuilder, Visual Basic, Pl 1, SAS PCS, PacBase, Full Visual Suite, Designer 2000, Developer 2000, C, C++, Visual C, ECL, Or Visual Studio), logic-based mathematics, data base concepts (for example, Oracle, Microsoft Access, Paradox, Sybase, IMS DB, DB2, Cache, DMS, Or RDMS), computer systems analysis & design, & basic data processing concepts; additional 3 1/2 years (42 mos.) exp. commensurate with job duties to be performed & knowledges & skills required as outlined in approved position description on file for position to be filled as advertised in job posting; and 3 mos. exp. in performing project management functions as defined in series purpose.

PRE-SERVICE TRAINING:
All new candidates hired to the Department of Youth Services are required to attend 3 weeks of mandatory, paid training at the Correctional Training Academy in Orient, Ohio. Training Academy hours are Monday through Thursday, 7:00 am to 5:00 pm.
