Job Description

G'day! You've found an opportunity that could define your next chapter.

Applicants must be Australian citizens and hold or be eligible to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance with the ability to successfully complete an Organisational Suitability Assessment. More information regarding security clearances can be found at https://www.agsva.gov.au/.

The Mission - Why This Program, Why Now?
You're joining at the defining moment of one of the most significant technology programmes Australia has ever undertaken. This programme will build and operate the dedicated cloud giving Australia's national security community and its allies the capability to see more, share more, innovate and act faster than ever before.

The architectural decisions being made now - how we structure networking, implement security controls, and automate at scale - will shape how Australia's national security community operates for the next decade. You won't be inheriting someone else's design choices. You'll be making them.

Your Role in This Mission
As a Customer Solutions Manager, you'll be the trusted advisor who bridges the gap between what's technically possible and what matters most to Australia's national security community. You'll work directly with senior customer stakeholders to understand their strategic vision, then orchestrate the people, technology, and processes needed to turn that vision into reality.

This isn't a role where you watch from the sidelines. You'll be in the room when critical decisions are made, shaping cloud transformation strategies that accelerate how Australia's defence and intelligence community operates. You'll earn trust through deep technical credibility, sharp business acumen, and an unwavering commitment to customer outcomes.

Every engagement you lead will have a direct line to national impact. You'll scope complex programmes, set measurable business goals, and drive accountability across cross functional teams to deliver outcomes that matter. You'll advise executives on what a successful cloud journey looks like and what needs to change in their environments to get there.

This role requires successfully gaining the AWS Solutions Architect Associate certification within your first 6 months, demonstrating the technical depth you'll bring to every customer conversation.

This position may require 25% to 40% travel dependent on geography and time of year.

Benefits
· Learning & development - AWS training and certification support, access to internal learning platforms.
· Health, income protection and life cover - Amazon subsidises private health insurance premiums, and group salary continuance and life insurance are included at no cost to you
· Military differential pay launching in Australia - Australian employees taking defence reserve leave may receive up to 52 weeks of military differential pay to help cover the difference in pay while serving
· Employee Assistance Program - Free, confidential support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for you and your family - mental health, financial coaching, legal questions, and everyday life events.
· Family-building benefit - Access to Maven for fertility treatment, adoption support, surrogacy, and parenting coaching
· Amazon Extras & employee discount - cashback and discounts across hundreds of retail, fitness, travel, and lifestyle partners.

Key job responsibilities
You'll be the driving force behind your customers' cloud transformation, working backwards from their mission to deliver outcomes that reshape how Australia's national security community operates.

Your focus spans three critical domains. In value realisation, you'll identify and accelerate the business outcomes your customers achieve throughout their cloud lifecycle. You'll connect the dots between AWS services, partner solutions, and best practices to unlock capabilities your customers didn't know were possible.

In enablement, you'll build organisational cloud readiness from the ground up. Through skills guilds, experience based accelerators, and training partnerships, you'll create the cloud fluency that turns hesitant adopters into confident innovators.

In governance, you'll establish and mature the operating models that drive scale and long term success. You'll apply AWS frameworks and mechanisms to create structures that outlast any single engagement.

Day to day, you'll collaborate with sales, solutions architecture, and service teams to deliver technical solutions that solve some of the most complex technology challenges facing Australia today. You'll scope work with precision, set business goals that inspire action, identify the right resources at the right time, and track progress with the rigour your customers expect.

You'll think big, invent new approaches, and take ownership of challenges that others might shy away from.

You'll use data to make decisions, express ideas thoughtfully, and bring a cool head to ambiguous situations where the path forward isn't always clear.

A day in the life
Your morning starts with a customer strategy session where you're presenting a cloud adoption roadmap to a senior executive team. You've worked backwards from their mission objectives, and today you're showing them how the next phase of their transformation will deliver measurable capability uplift within six months. The questions are sharp, the stakes are high, and you're in your element.

Mid morning, you're on a call with your solutions architecture counterpart, working through a technical blocker that emerged during a customer's migration. Together, you identify an approach that not only solves the immediate challenge but creates a reusable pattern for similar workloads across the programme.

After lunch, you're facilitating a governance workshop with a customer who's scaling their cloud operations. You're helping them build the operating model that will sustain their transformation long after your direct engagement ends. You draw on AWS frameworks, adapt them to their unique context, and watch the team's confidence grow as the path forward crystallises.

Late afternoon brings a cross functional sync with your internal team. You're tracking progress across multiple workstreams, flagging risks early, and ensuring every commitment made to your customer is on track. You update your stakeholders with clarity and precision, because in this programme, trust is earned through consistent delivery.

Your day ends with 30 minutes of focused time, reviewing the latest AWS service launches and considering how they might unlock new possibilities for your customers. In this role, curiosity isn't optional. It's what keeps you ahead of the curve and ensures your customers always have access to the best of what AWS can offer.
