Product Manager, Tracking and Compensation
Job Description
Company description Welcome to Our World We’ve been leading the charge in the affiliate industry from day one—establishing performance marketing and paving the way for future innovations. We're known for maintaining one of the largest, most reliable partnership platforms with impeccable, personalized service. Founded in Santa Barbara, California in 1998, CJ (formerly Commission Junction) stands as the most trusted name in performance marketing. We specialize in building partnerships between top brands and reputable publishers to drive revenue and business growth. CJ’s industry-leading solutions make us the platform of choice for over 3,800 global brands across sectors like retail, travel, finance, technology, and home services. As part of Publicis Groupe, our savvy data capabilities, cutting-edge tech, and strategic expertise facilitate genuine connections, allowing brands to reach consumers wherever they are. A Quick Peek at Affiliate Marketing Think back to your last online purchase. Did an influencer tip you off about a great product and offer a discount? Or perhaps you relied on a trusted review site to make your decision? Whatever path you took, affiliate publishers likely played a role by influencing, informing, or helping you find the best deal. CJ connects brands with these publishers, creating valuable resources for shoppers like you. This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days a week in Agoura Hills or Santa Barbara, CA; or Needham, MA or Chicago. You must be work authorized in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship. Overview The data and identity layer beneath CJ’s commerce media network is what makes measurement and attribution possible, and it’s evolving rapidly as we see an expansion of commerce surfaces and AI introduced into every part of the shopping journey. As a Product Manager for Tracking Solutions, you’ll own our publisher-focused tracking solutions and help shape CJ’s evolving identity and measurement solutions, which resolve consumer signals into durable, privacy-compliant identity across devices and commerce surfaces. You’ll partner with product leadership on the market assessments and research that determine where we invest next. Responsibilities Do these things interest you? You will: Own publisher-focused tracking. Take end-to-end ownership of CJ’s publisher-facing tracking solutions: the systems that capture how publishers drive consumer engagement across shopping platforms. Decide what to build and why, grounded in evidence, and shape the roadmap for your domain. Help shape identity solutions. Contribute to CJ’s identity strategy and the solutions that resolve consumer signals into durable, privacy-compliant identity across devices and commerce surfaces. Shape CJ’s approach as browser privacy controls, consumer privacy regulation, and cross-device, cross-platform shopping journeys continue to evolve. Partner on assessments and research. Work alongside product leadership on the market assessments and discovery that shape where CJ invests next. Make the call. Weigh tradeoffs and prioritize under real constraints (competing requests, limited capacity, imperfect data), and own the decisions that result. Partner closely with engineering. Work day-to-day with a dedicated engineering team to ship, learn, and iterate, using Agile practices to deliver value in every release and feed client learnings back into the product. Define success and measure it. Set clear success criteria and the metrics that prove whether a solution is working, and use what you learn to adjust course. Be the domain expert. Serve as the go-to authority on your solutions for leadership, sales, marketing, and clients. You’ll support complex deals, go-to-market planning, and technical documentation, and translate deep technical topics for non-technical audiences. Coordinate across the platform. Manage dependencies with other product domains and engineering teams so scope stays accurate and timelines stay aligned. Qualifications What we look for: 3–6 years in product management, ideally on technical or platform products such as data systems, measurement, identity, or APIs. A strong grasp of the ecommerce landscape. You understand how consumers shop, behave, and are tracked across different commerce surfaces (web, mobile web, in-app, and marketplaces), and why measuring that behavior is hard. A track record of autonomous product decisions. You’ve framed ambiguous problems, weighed the tradeoffs, and chosen a direction, not only executed roadmaps defined by someone else. Technical fluency. You understand how web and mobile tracking works, and you’re comfortable enough with data pipelines, APIs, and architecture to partner credibly with engineers and make informed calls. Strong discovery instincts. You validate problems with real users and evidence before building, and you can tell signal from noise. Analytical judgment. You turn data and ambiguity into clear priorities, and you can defend why one thing matters more than another. Excellent communication. You can take a complex technical topic to executives, clients, and sales, in both writing and conversation, and be understood. AI fluency. You use AI tools across the product lifecycle (discovery, design, synthesis of feedback, and solution development) to raise both velocity and quality. Comfort with distributed work. You collaborate effectively with remote teams and individuals. Nice to Have: Background in performance marketing, ad tech, or commerce media. Familiarity with identity resolution, attribution, or privacy-enhancing technologies. Exposure to data architecture, data streaming, cloud-based architecture, or API development. SaaS or platform product experience. Hands-on Agile delivery experience, with tools like Atlassian JIRA Additional information This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days a week in Agoura Hills or Santa Barbara, CA; or Needham, MA or Chicago.
