Role Summary

The Director, People Operations & Total Rewards is an enterprise leader responsible for the design, governance, and evolution of Beacon’s people operations and total rewards infrastructure. This role elevates People Operations from transactional execution to enterprise stewardship—ensuring compensation, benefits, employee relations, and operational processes are competitive, compliant, scalable, and aligned with Beacon’s growth strategy.

Enterprise Total Rewards Strategy

• Own Beacon’s total rewards philosophy, including well-being, compensation, benefits, retirement, and recognition programs. Prepare executive and board-ready materials related to compensation, benefits, and workforce costs. 
• Design and govern market-based compensation frameworks, job architecture, and salary structures. 
• Partner with Finance on workforce cost strategy, annual planning, and long-range modeling. 
• Lead annual merit, promotion, and market adjustment cycles with rigor and equity.

Benefits, Retirement & Vendor Governance

• Provide strategic oversight of health and welfare benefits, leave programs, and wellness initiatives. 
• Serve as senior partner for 401(k) plan governance and optimization. 
• Lead vendor strategy, RFPs, renewals, performance management. 
• Ensure benefits strategy supports attraction, retention, and engagement.

People Operations & Compliance

• Own the operational backbone of the People function, including HRIS, policies, SOPs, and workflows. 
• Ensure audit-ready, compliant execution across all People processes. 
• Establish clear governance, escalation, and accountability models.

Employee Relations & Risk Management

• Provide senior review and guidance on complex employee relations matters. 
• Oversee investigations, corrective actions, and termination governance. 
• Partner with SVP People and Legal to mitigate employment risk while reinforcing culture and fairness.

Workers’ Compensation & Leave Oversight

• Provide executive oversight for workers’ compensation and leave administration. 
• Partner with vendors and Operations to manage cost, risk, and outcomes. 
• Use data and trends to drive proactive risk reduction strategies.

• Lead PTO harmonization strategy across legacy and acquired entities, including policy standardization, transition planning, financial impact assessment, and change management. 
• Partner with Finance, Legal, Payroll, and Operations to evaluate accrual design, carryover rules, legacy obligations, and implementation sequencing. 
• Develop enterprise recommendations that balance compliance, operational simplicity, employee experience, and acquisition integration goals.

Acquisition Partnership

• Lead acquisition and integration playbook support for People Operations and Total Rewards, including diligence inputs, benefit and policy transition planning, onboarding coordination, and Day 1 readiness. 
• Build and refine repeatable integration playbooks, SOPs, and decision frameworks to support scalable onboarding of acquired teams and practices. 
• Ensure acquired entities are aligned to Beacon standards while identifying and managing transition risks, employee experience considerations, and compliance requirements.

Leadership & Enterprise Partnership

• Prepare executive and board-ready materials related to compensation, benefits, and workforce costs. 

Qualifications

• 12+ years of progressive HR leadership experience with deep expertise in total rewards and people operations. 
• Demonstrated success owning compensation strategy, benefits, employee relations, and HR operations. 
• Experience operating at the senior director, director or enterprise level in a multi-state environment. 
• Strong partnership experience with Finance and Legal. 
• Exceptional judgment, analytical rigor, and executive communication skills.
