ER Veterinary Technician / Veterinary Assistant Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage hospitalized ER and ICU patients
- Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition
- Assist with emergency triage and patient stabilization
- Provide compassionate nursing care to critically ill and injured patients
- IV catheter placement and venipuncture
- Administer medications (IV, SQ, oral)
- Assist with anesthesia monitoring and procedural support
- Perform laboratory diagnostics (blood, urine, fecal testing)
- Support radiographic and diagnostic imaging procedures
- Assist with patient restraint and treatment procedures
- Maintain detailed and accurate medical records
- Work collaboratively with ER doctors, specialists, RVTs, assistants, and CSRs
- Support efficient workflow and patient care during high-volume periods
- Communicate professionally and compassionately with clients
- Educate clients regarding treatment plans, discharge instructions, and patient care updates
What We're Looking For
- Strong interest in Emergency & Critical Care Veterinary Medicine
- Experience in:
- Emergency veterinary medicine
- ICU nursing
- High-volume general practice
- Specialty referral medicine
- Surgical assisting/anesthesia support
- Strong multitasking and organizational skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Compassionate, patient-focused mindset
- Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT/LVT/CVT) strongly preferred
- Previous ER or specialty veterinary hospital experience preferred
- Experience with:
- Advanced anesthesia monitoring
- Critical care nursing

- Strong Veterinary Assistants with ER or surgical experience encouraged to apply
