The Regional Engineering Manager provides leadership, vision, and direction for a regional engineering team within AVI‑SPL’s Systems Integration Group (SIG). This role ensures successful planning, design, technical accuracy, and quality of audiovisual solutions. Working as a strategic partner to Sales and internal technical teams, the Regional Engineering Manager executes enterprise engineering strategy within the region, translating objectives into regional operating plans, performance outcomes, and resource alignment. WHAT YOU’LL DO The Regional Engineering Manager provides leadership, vision, and direction for a regional engineering team within AVI‑SPL’s Systems Integration Group (SIG). This role ensures successful planning, design, technical accuracy, and quality of audiovisual solutions. Working as a strategic partner to Sales and internal technical teams, the Regional Engineering Manager executes enterprise engineering strategy within the region, translating objectives into regional operating plans, performance outcomes, and resource alignment. Day-To-Day Responsibilities: Leadership and Strategy Lead, and develop a regional engineering team that triages, prioritizes, and delivers presales engineering support for all opportunities across the region, adapting quickly to shifting business needs. Own regional performance by setting clear expectations, aligning goals to VP/Director-defined outcomes, and tracking performance metrics (KPIs and operational targets) to strengthen accountability, consistency, and continuous improvement. Enforce and coach the local, regional and global technical community in creating aligned Standards & Best Practices, process, and communication. Maximizing commonality and collaboration on continual improvement while recognizing and providing for local variation. Provide mentoring, coaching, and growth opportunities for engineering staff to strengthen technical capability, professionalism, and collaboration. Manage and coach the scheduling, resource planning, and workload balancing of the engineering teams within the region. Collaborate globally with Preferred Partners, and other members of our vendor management program, to foster high-value relationships, business growth, and to ensure AVI-SPL’s competitive edge in the market. Collaborate and share feedback with peers and global Engineering leadership to foster alignment, process improvement, and community. Monitor labor expenditures to ensure alignment with departmental and project level budgets. Accountable for regional engineering financial performance, including labor efficiency, resource utilization, and contribution to revenue and margin targets. Design Engineering and Sales Responsibilities and Oversight Collaborate with regional sales and engineering leadership to meet; revenue commitments, gross margin targets, win rates and sales velocity. Aligning engineering resources, queue priorities, and bandwidth to consistently meet these objectives. Collaborate and coach with sales leadership to refine the opportunity qualification and needs analysis deliverables from sales, ensuring engineers receive clear, actionable information to create tailored customer solutions efficiently. Manage and coach office engagement with Preferred Partners to foster relationship building and ongoing education while ensuring efficient use of employees time. Drive adoption, compliance, and continuous feedback on enterprise engineering standards and best practices defined by Engineering leadership. Escalate gaps or improvement opportunities in standards to the Engineering Director for evaluation. Manage and coach temporary Tiger Teams setup for high-impact or urgent challenges. Engage in project design and labor plan reviews primarily in escalation scenarios, high-risk opportunities, or systemic issues impacting regional performance. Post Sale Engineering including Project Engineering Responsibilities and Oversight Enforce and coach AVI-SPL processes and deliverables, including associated deliverables, to ensure smooth transitions from pre-sales to post-sales, minimizing disruptions and ensuring project continuity. Facilitate and coach post-project retrospectives, providing insights from the delivery team to inform and refine pre-sales strategies, deliverables, and the product portfolio. Team Development This role manages regional engineering staff, which may include Engineering Managers, Engineering Supervisors, and Design Engineers. Execute talent development strategies by coaching Engineering Managers and Supervisors, driving performance management, and implementing leadership development plans aligned with Director-defined frameworks. Provide training to internal departments as necessary on new technologies, tools and processes. Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities to enhance team capabilities. Develop and share strategies to attract and retain additional skilled candidates. Building Connections & Partnerships Manage key regional client and partner relationships to support delivery excellence and regional growth. Escalate and partner with Director on enterprise-level or strategic accounts. Represent AVI-SPL, as requested by leadership, at select regional events and interface with technical leadership to foster relationships and identify opportunities. Promoting Company Cores Values Build long-term relationships within the team and among peers by creating an environment of accomplishment, encouragement and innovation. Mentor teams on effective engineering approaches for our fast-paced environment. Drive a strong customer service mind-set within the internal technical community.
