Job Description

The Dallas Children's Advocacy Center is seeking an experienced Director of Engagement for the Marketing Department

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Director of Engagement leads Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center’s (DCAC) comprehensive engagement strategy, building a structured and measurable pathway that moves individuals and organizations from initial awareness to active philanthropic investment.  This role oversees all engagement channels—marketing, communications, events, volunteerism, and community outreach—and ensures they operate as an integrated system that consistently generates qualified prospects for the development pipeline.  In close partnership with the Chief Advancement Officer and Director of Advancement, this leader is responsible for aligning engagement efforts with revenue goals and ensuring seamless conversion from engagement to giving. 

ABOUT DCAC: The mission of the Dallas Children's Advocacy Center is to improve the lives of abused children in Dallas County and to provide national leadership on child abuse issues. DCAC is a non-profit organization and the only agency of its kind in Dallas County, working in agreement with public and private agencies to investigate, prosecute, and provide healing services for child abuse 
cases in Dallas County. We reduce the victimization of the child, remove barriers to investigation and treatment, and enhance criminal prosecution with our distinctive multidisciplinary and united approach to these complex and severe cases, all at no cost to our clients. Each year, DCAC serves over 13,000 children and their non-offending family members. 

We are a national and international leader in the Children's Advocacy Center movement, recognized 
for our expertise in the identification, investigation, and prosecution of child abuse cases; cutting edge clinical services and programs for the victims and their non-offending family members; and our community and professional training programs.

Staff Supervision: Engagement Specialist, Engagement Officer, Engagement Associate 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

Engagement Strategy & Pipeline Development 

  • Design and implement a funnel-based engagement model from awareness → participation → investment  

  • Establish clear pathways for all entry points (events, digital, volunteerism, campaigns) into development pipelines  

  • Define and track KPIs tied to donor acquisition, retention, and growth  

  • Partner with Development to ensure qualified prospect handoff and pipeline progression  

Marketing, Communications & Brand Leadership 

  • Lead all marketing, communications, PR, and brand strategy  

  • Ensure consistent, compelling messaging across all platforms  

  • Oversee content strategy that educates, engages, and converts audiences  

  • Utilize performance data to optimize campaigns and audience growth  

Events & Experiential Engagement 

  • Oversee strategy and execution of all engagement and fundraising events  

  • Ensure events function as both revenue drivers and pipeline entry points  

  • Partner with Development to maximize sponsor and attendee conversion  

  • Elevate event experience to deepen mission connection and long-term engagement  

Volunteer & Community Engagement 

  • Position volunteerism as a strategic entry point into donor engagement  

  • Expand community presence through presentations, partnerships, and outreach  

  • Ensure volunteer experiences are mission-driven and aligned with pipeline strategy  

Campaign & Audience Development 

  • Lead integrated campaigns (CAPM, April Appeal, NTXGD, EOY)  

  • Oversee audience segmentation and targeting strategies  

  • Align campaigns with donor acquisition and retention goals  

Team Leadership & Operations 

  • Set performance expectations tied to engagement and revenue outcomes  

  • Manage departmental budget and resource allocation  

  • Foster a high-performing, accountable team culture 

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS 

Education and experience: Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, nonprofit management, or related field and a minimum of five (5) years of experience working in marketing, communications, or agency related field.  

Required Software: Advanced working knowledge with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, WordPress, and email marketing platforms.

Key Success Metrics 

  • Growth in qualified prospects entering the development pipeline  

  • Conversion rate from engagement to first-time donors  

  • Year-over-year growth in campaign performance (revenue + participation)  

  • Event-to-donor conversion rates  

  • Volunteer-to-donor conversion rates  

  • Growth in audience reach and engagement across digital platforms  

  • Contribution to overall private revenue goals 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  

Work Location: Most work is performed in the office. Remote work permitted up to two days per week after 90 days of employment and with Chief approval. 

Mental and Physical Abilities: Duties are usually performed seated with occasional periods of standing or walking. Limited physical effort is required associated with lifting and carrying objects (less than 25 lbs).   

Working Conditions: Work may be performed but is not limited to an office environment. There will be some events that require support and attendance in the evening and/or on a weekend offsite.
