Northern High School
12 Month Position
2026/2027 salary range: $16.30 to $27.55 per hour
WORK SCHEDULE:Monday - Friday, 7.5 hours per day (as assigned)
- 7 AM � 3PM with flexibility to adjust shift time.
- Compressed work week (M-Th) during summer.
SUMMARY OF PURPOSE
This position is responsible for providing administrative, secretarial, and clerical support to the athletic director and all functions of the athletic department to include communicating with a variety of stakeholders such as staff, students, parents, and the public.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Be cooperative, congenial, and service-oriented with a positive attitude toward a variety of stakeholders such as district staff, students, parents, and the public.
- Answer the phone, greet visitors, respond in a timely manner to phone messages, mail, and email. Draft correspondence as needed.
- Collect new coach paperwork.
- Collect new athletic helper paperwork.
- Manage athletic schedules.
- Track student attendance and eligibility.
- Copy, scan, and file documents.
- Complete and submit PIAA eligibility forms.
- Prepare student awards.
- Assist with athletic budget.
- Maintain inventory.
- Assist with athletic department transportation.
- Create documents and reports including but not limited to the Eligibility Report and Athletic Calendar.
- Maintain rosters for student information system, the Mid Penn Conference, and for distribution to local media outlets.
- Coordinate schedules and payments for athletic event personnel.
- Communicate relevant and pertinent information to other building staff.
- Assist with orientation of new staff/department members.
- Maintain proficient skill set in technological tools including, but not limited to: Student information system, purchase order and financial management system, district website and webpage management, etc.
- Perform other administrative duties, including but not limited to: Flyer distribution, bulletin board maintenance, electronic school sign maintenance, and key inventory/requests.

OTHER ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret written and verbal information. Must demonstrate
effective communications with, and respond in a timely manner to, questions from groups of
administrators, staff, parents, students, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with and apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages,
ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability: Able to solve practical problems and deal with several variables at once. Ability to
interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Other Required Skills and Abilities: Perform duties with awareness of all District requirements and Board
of Education policies.
SCOPE AND IMPACT
This position accomplishes most tasks through standard procedure, exercising independent judgment when
necessary. High-level contacts of a complex and confidential nature, both inside and outside the school district, are
made. Internal contacts include district office staff, district administrators, teachers, students, and classified staff.
External contacts include parents, community members, school board members, and any other business or school
related entities.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Minimum high school diploma or other equivalent (e.g. GED, technical, trade school, or foreign equivalency). Minimum of three (3) years of experience in modern office practices and administrative procedures, preferably in an educational environment. This position requires knowledge of software such as Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook, Sapphire and its functions for maintaining student records, scanning, and various web-based applications. Confidentiality and attention to detail are essential. Strong filing and record keeping skills, organizational skills, collaboration, and communication skills are required in addition to the ability to work independently and be self-motivated. Knowledge of internet scheduling programs for athletic schedules and officials preferred.
The following clearances must be provided upon hire and updated every five years in accordance with Act 153: PA State Police-Act 34, Child Abuse- Act 151, and FBI Fingerprint-Act 114. Child Abuse training (or proof of completion) in accordance with Act 126 upon hire and repeated every five years thereafter. A negative TB test and physical is required upon hire.
