Position Summary
University Medical Center is seeking a compassionate, skilled Dentist to join our Infectious Disease Dental Services team. This full-time role focuses on providing comprehensive dental care to patients with infectious diseases, including individuals living with HIV. The ideal candidate is clinically proficient, patient-centered, and committed to delivering high-quality care in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Examine, diagnose, and treat diseases, injuries, and malformations of teeth and gums
- Provide comprehensive dental care, including:
- Routine cleanings and preventive services
- Extractions, root canals, and fillings
- Bite corrections and treatment of overcrowding
- Surgical and non-surgical dental procedures
- Develop and implement individualized oral health treatment plans
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and preventive care strategies
- Prescribe medications for dental conditions, including pain management and antibiotics
- Order and interpret diagnostic tools such as X-rays and dental models
- Utilize dental instruments (drills, probes, mirrors, brushes) to diagnose and treat oral conditions
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including treatment plans and prescriptions
- Collaborate with physicians and healthcare staff to coordinate comprehensive patient care
- Direct and support dental assistants to ensure efficient, high-quality patient services
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from an accredited dental school
Licenses & Certifications
- Current, valid license to practice dentistry in the state of practice (in good standing) or eligibility for licensure
- Ability to obtain and maintain active privileges through the Medical Staff Office
Preferred Attributes
- Experience or interest in treating patients with infectious diseases, including HIV
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a patient-centered approach
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary clinical team
