Job Description
Leeds (Hybrid – 4 days office / 1 day home)
Full-time | Permanent
Great salary + bonus + excellent benefits
Make your mark when it matters most!
At Markel, insurance is more than a policy — it’s a promise. A promise to help people rebuild after unexpected events, and to give businesses the confidence to move forward. As part of our Prompt Resolution Team, you’ll be right at the heart of that promise, managing claims that genuinely impact people’s lives, while building a career with real progression and support.
Why this role?
Join a high-performing, supportive team in Leeds with a strong culture of collaboration and development
Opportunities have become available due to internal promotion and growth, not attrition
Gain exposure across Employer’s Liability, Public Liability and Property claims
Benefit from structured training, funded CII qualifications and clear career pathways
Whether you’re developing your insurance career or bringing transferable skills, this is a role where you can grow fast and make a real impact.
What you’ll be doing:
You’ll take ownership of your own portfolio of claims from first notification through to settlement, including:
Managing a mixed caseload of low-value injury (EL/PL) and property damage claims
Investigating claims, reviewing policy coverage and making fair, informed decisions
Working closely with policyholders, brokers and loss adjusters
Building strong relationships and delivering excellent customer outcomes
Prioritising workloads and progressing claims efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Contributing to continuous improvement and team projects
You’ll manage a varied portfolio, combining high-volume, low-touch liability claims with more hands-on property cases
What we’re looking for:
We’re open-minded on background, what matters most is your potential.
You might come from:
Insurance claims, underwriting, broking or operations
Property or liability claims
Customer-focused roles within insurance
A legal or academic background (e.g. law graduate)
You’ll bring:
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
A proactive, problem-solving attitude
Organisation and attention to detail
Confidence speaking with customers
A genuine desire to learn and build a long-term career
If you join permanently, we’ll support you in studying towards your CII qualifications
What’s in it for you:
Competitive salary & great annual bonus
Hybrid working (4 days in Leeds, 1 from home)
25 days holiday + bank holidays (option to buy/sell)
Private medical, dental & strong pension scheme
Fully funded professional qualifications (CII)
Clear progression routes into senior, specialist or leadership roles
A genuinely supportive, people-first culture
A team where you’ll thrive:
Approx. 7-person team with strong peer support
Office-based, collaborative and social environment
Regular team interaction, coaching and development
Real exposure to experienced colleagues and leadership
This is not a call centre role, you’ll handle your own cases, with meaningful work and real ownership.
