Performs detailed concurrent reviews of patient accounts by comparing the medical record documentation to determine appropriate charges. Serves as an educational resource to medical staff members and revenue cycle teams on an ongoing basis on issues related to charge capture and charge appropriateness for medical services. Works closely with medical staff and the Revenue Management department to provide accurate critical information for identification of areas needing immediate attention to expedite compliance, recommend revenue cycle process improvements, and capturing charges.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Health Administration, Business Administration, Finance, Revenue Cycle, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of education.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in charge capture, revenue integrity, implant reconciliation, healthcare finance, revenue cycle operations, or a related healthcare operational role.
  • Experience working in a perioperative, procedural, surgical, or hospital-based environment strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to review and interpret clinical documentation, including operative notes, procedural documentation, nursing records, and anesthesia records, to identify charge opportunities, documentation discrepancies, implant utilization, and revenue integrity concerns.
  • Demonstrated experience investigating and resolving charge discrepancies, billing exceptions, implant utilization variances, and documentation-related revenue opportunities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to reconcile large volumes of data, identify trends, and independently drive issues to resolution.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience working with healthcare systems such as Epic, Workday, or similar electronic medical record and enterprise resource planning systems.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with physicians, clinical staff, supply chain, procurement, finance, and revenue cycle teams.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
