Job Description

The Lower Keys Academic Connections for Excellence (ACE) program, which is operated out of Key West High School in Key West, Florida, has an opening for an alternative education teaching position. Applicants will work with middle and high school-age students in a small setting, focusing on coursework to assist students in graduating on time. Based on the teacher certifications, we implement a blended model whereby courses can be either directly taught to students and/or via virtual online courses.

The essential function of the position within the organization is to assist teachers in instructing and directing the activities of students to provide a well-organized, smoothly functioning classroom environment.  The position is responsible for assisting teachers in preparing instructional materials, supervising and assisting children in the classroom and in other areas of the school, reinforcing classroom lessons, administering testing, assisting students with academic and life skills exercises and activities, reinforcing knowlege, assisting students with physical needs, and performing related work as assigned and providing other assistance as requested; incumbents may be responsible for coordinating special project and prgrams as assigned.  The position works under direct supervision according to set procedures.

Paraprofessional Degree Bonus/Supplement:

Associate Degree: $1,200 annual supplement
Bachelor's Degree: $1,500 annual supplement
Master's or Doctorate Degree: $1,800 annual supplement

Associate Degree or
60 College Credits or
High School Diploma+ Passing score on the Parapro Assessment of 450 or higher
