Job Description
The Buyer/Planner is responsible for procuring raw materials and semi‑finished components while also managing inventory levels and supporting production planning activities to ensure material availability aligns with demand. This role supports manufacturing operations, New Product Introduction (NPI), and engineering requirements by balancing supply, demand, and inventory to maintain continuity of production, optimize working capital, and meet delivery commitments.
Responsibilities
Procure mechanical and electronic components based on demand using SAP to support production and project requirements
Request quotes, issue purchase orders, and manage supplier deliveries to meet production schedules
Negotiate pricing, lead times, and commercial terms to achieve cost and service objectives
Manage supplier relationships, agreements, and performance to ensure compliance with company standards
React to fluctuations in production demand (expedites, push‑outs) and resolve material obsolescence issues
Collaborate with Logistics to determine optimal shipping methods and resolve delivery issues
Maintain accurate supplier, component, and approved vendor information
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, or Business Management
3 – 5 years experience in Manufacturing or procurement environment preferred
Experience with ERP systems, SAP preferred
Strong Microsoft Office experience
Experience in reading mechanical drawings and understanding engineering requirements
Negotiation and supplier management experience
Purchasing law and commercial terms
Multi‑supplier management experience
Per applicable state requirements, the annual pay range for this position ($66,500 - $95,000) which consists of base salary (subject to performance), reflects the hiring range for candidates. Also note, an individual’s offer may vary from this range as it may be impacted by additional factors, including but not limited to the candidate's hiring location, qualifications, experience, and market factors.
