Job Description
What does this role entail? The Property Claims & Loss Control Manager is responsible for management and coordination of property damage claims under the company’s Master Insurance Program (“MIP”), renter’s insurance and tenant liability claims, and property-focused loss control initiatives across the multifamily portfolio.
This position serves a critical role in protecting company and client assets through proactive loss prevention, claim management, operational risk evaluation, and coordination with onsite teams, ownership groups, carriers, adjusters, consultants, and restoration vendors.
The role will support both reactive claim handling and proactive risk mitigation efforts, with a particular focus on water intrusion, construction defect exposure, fire/life safety concerns, and operational property risk trends.
Essential Duties:
Manage intake, reporting, and coordination of property damage claims under the MIP.
Coordinate renter’s insurance and tenant liability claim administration.
Serve as primary liaison between onsite teams, adjusters, TPAs, carriers, restoration vendors, and ownership groups for property-related claims.
Monitor claim progression, reserve activity, recoveries, and resolution timelines.
Maintain accurate RMIS documentation, claim tracking, and loss reporting.
Coordinate collection of estimates, photographs, incident reports, invoices, consultant reports, and supporting documentation.
Assist with catastrophe response and large-loss coordination efforts.
Conduct and coordinate property loss control inspections and operational risk assessments.
Identify recurring loss trends and recommend corrective actions and operational improvements.
Monitor compliance with company loss control standards, including water mitigation protocols, freeze protection plans, sprinkler/life safety inspections, make-ready procedures, and vendor risk requirements.
Follow up with operational teams to ensure timely completion of corrective actions identified during inspections or claim reviews.
Assist in identifying potential construction defect, deferred maintenance, and water intrusion exposures.
Support development and continuous improvement of property risk mitigation standards and operational best practices.
Assist with internal claim analytics, loss reporting, and executive-level risk summaries.
Participate in carrier, broker, and ownership claim review meetings as needed.
Other Duties as assigned.
Experience Preferred:
At least five (5) years of property claims, loss control, insurance, restoration, construction risk, or multifamily operations experience. Strong understanding of commercial property insurance and property claim handling processes. Experience with multifamily housing, construction defect exposure, or water intrusion claims preferred.
Knowledge of loss control practices, operational risk mitigation, and property inspections. Strong organizational, investigative, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and high-severity incidents simultaneously.
