ADVERTISING/WORKING TITLE: EMPLOYMENT SPECIALIST
This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Circuit 15-0 West Palm Beach.
The mission of an Employment Specialist is to empower individuals under community supervision by providing comprehensive job readiness training, fostering partnerships with employers and educational institutions, and offering continuous support to help them secure meaningful employment and successfully reintegrate into society.
This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.
JOB DUTIES:
- Meet with offenders to help them find jobs and provide resources while they are under supervision.
- Organize and lead classes on job readiness, including how to apply for jobs and interview skills.
- Build partnerships with employers, schools, and community groups to create job opportunities and training for offenders.
- Support offenders by regularly checking in, helping with job searches, and coordinating job fairs and volunteer work.
- Work closely with probation officers and community agencies to ensure offenders get the help they need to succeed.

REQUIREMENTS:

- Must possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or 4 years of professional or nonprofessional experience in job placement, parole, probation, sworn law enforcement, public Investigations, clemency, victim services work, administrative work or corrections work OR any combination of education and work experience as described above for a total of 4 years.
Support of knowledge, skills, and abilities should be demonstrated on the application, in the education, in the work experience, in the work sample, in the interview and/or during reference checks.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT
The Florida Department of Corrections requires all job applicants and volunteers to pass a Level 2 background check as per Chapter 435, Florida Statutes. This check must be completed before they can start working or volunteering.
