Role Overview
Join CAE’s Civil Aviation Regional Safety Team (EMEA) as an Aviation Safety Officer, playing a key role in strengthening safety culture across training and operational environments.
This role focuses on implementing and continuously improving the Global Safety Management System (SMS), ensuring regulatory compliance, mitigating risks, and driving safety performance across multiple sites.
You will lead safety initiatives, conduct audits, and collaborate with stakeholders to enhance operational safety and achieve strategic safety targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain the Global Safety Management System (SMS)
- Identify hazards and drive risk assessment and mitigation activities
- Utilize feedback systems to address safety deficiencies and ensure timely corrective actions
- Manage and continuously improve SMS to reduce operational and corporate risks
- Support achievement of Safety Performance Targets (SPTs) through planning and safety initiatives
- Deliver safety training and mentor personnel across training centres
- Influence and coach stakeholders to strengthen safety culture
- Conduct annual safety audits to ensure compliance with regulatory standards
- Support continuous improvement through safety assurance and monitoring activities
Required qualifications
- Aviation background (e.g., flight operations, training, safety, engineering/maintenance, air traffic, aviation compliance, or related operational aviation environments).
- Demonstrated experience applying structured safety/risk concepts (hazard identification, risk assessment/mitigation, and corrective actions) in operational settings.
- Ability to work effectively on-site (minimum 3 days/week) in Amsterdam or Madrid, with limited travel across Europe.
- Strong stakeholder skills: able to influence and coach leaders and frontline personnel in a multi-site environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in a professional/business context.
Preferred qualifications (nice to have)
- Experience with Safety Management Systems (SMS) in aviation or safety-critical industries.
- Experience in simulator/training centre operations (FSTD environment) and the risks typical to training delivery/operations.
- Experience supporting audits, safety assurance activities, investigations, or structured corrective action planning.
- Additional European language capability (helpful across multi-country EMEA operations).
