The Position

Welcome to Holly Springs, North Carolina— home to Roche/Genentech's largest-ever investment: a $2B greenfield start-up where next-generation technology, high-performing teams and Operational Excellence converge to create the global standard for high-volume, highly-efficient Drug Product manufacturing. 

The facility's core is defined by Innovation - leveraging advanced automation, robotics, digital tools, real-time data analytics, and simple, streamlined processes to produce the highest quality medicines. This plant meets today’s demand for CVRM (Cardiovascular, Renal, and Metabolism) medicines and is scalable to grow with the portfolio, which focuses on next-generation metabolic medicines specifically targeting the global obesity epidemic and Type 2 diabetes. This is a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with a high-level of accountability, with planned launch in 2028.

The Opportunity:

As Head of Engineering you will lead the overall Engineering, Sciences, and Technology strategy at Holly Springs. You will be a part of the equipment, facility and utility selection, qualification and lead the operational start-up of the assets in the new Greenfield build to the ongoing lifecycle management of the plant. You will lead the site Maintenance & Reliability program, Capital execution, Asset lifecycle Management and deploy a world-class Asset Management program, to maintain the utility systems to the highest levels of compliance and manage all site facility services, to enable high-volume parenteral manufacturing.

You will enable and empower your team to deliver our vision through a culture of Continuous Improvement and Innovation, developing a highly engaged team and bringing new technology to proactively reduce asset related cost, improve operational availability and efficiently deploy Capital investment. 

You are overall responsible for capital project engineering management in Holly Springs over the whole asset and facility lifecycle, including business strategic planning and site master planning. You are also responsible for establishing a World-class asset maintenance management system. 

To bring the highest level of technical expertise and support to Holly Springs, you will develop a network and foster collaboration between global functions, equipment suppliers, local expertise and other Roche manufacturing sites. You will be part of the Site Leadership Team and report to the Site Head.

  • You will lead, coach, and guide the organization. Manage performance and development of the members of the Engineering Unit to achieve organizational goals and employee personal and professional growth

  • You will build a strong pipeline of talent and robust succession plans for key positions.

  • You will build a culture of continuous improvement and model lean leadership principles


Who you are:

You actively pursue new ideas and question conventional thought patterns. You appreciate working in a dynamic organization with ambitious goals and an environment characterized by mutual respect, open dialogue and collaboration across numerous global and local interfaces.

  • You have a Bachelor’s Degree (engineering discipline) - Graduate Degree or MBA is preferred.

  • You have 15 or more years work experience in the pharmaceutical industry with at least 6 or more years of people and project management experience and 4 or more years’ facilities management, engineering, or related experience in the pharmaceutical industry

  • You have experience leading Maintenance Strategy and world-class maintenance programs. 

  • You have dedication to serve internal and external customers, passion for developing people and shaping a new organization to deliver 

  • You have extensive experience in collaboration and project management in cross-functional teams and high interface competence and good leadership skills in a matrix organization

  • You are familiar with manufacturing and business processes at a site; understanding of the opportunities and challenges within the network

  • You possess good assertiveness in a global environment and a continuous approach to improvement

  • You have a proven ability to coach and implement lean ways of working - understands and applies agile ways of working.

  • You have excellent communications skills in English and the ability to effectively communicate and influence across all levels of the organization

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location for this position of Holly Springs is $173,950 - $323,050. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, level, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
