Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Primary Function:

The Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of production equipment at USA Wood Door. Working under the supervision of the Production Supervisor, this position is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and optimizing machinery to support fast-paced, high‑quality manufacturing operations. The Maintenance Technician collaborates closely with production teams to minimize downtime, enhance productivity, and uphold USA Wood Door’s commitment to speed, service, and quality.

Key Accountabilities

Equipment Maintenance & Repair (25%)

  • Diagnose mechanical issues and perform timely repairs on production machinery.
  • Conduct routine inspections and corrective actions to prevent equipment failures and downtime.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage.]\

Preventive Maintenance (20%)

  • Execute scheduled preventive maintenance tasks
  • Identify wear, deterioration, or potential failures and recommend proactive solutions to extend equipment life.

Process Optimization & Installation (20%)

  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to modify or upgrade existing installations for improved performance.
  • Assist in the setup, installation, and commissioning of new equipment and machinery.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements that enhance safety, efficiency, and productivity.

Collaboration & Communication (20%)

  • Work closely with production staff to understand operational needs and respond quickly to equipment issues.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding maintenance priorities, equipment status, and repair timelines.

Safety & Compliance (15%)

  • Adhere to all company safety protocols and ensure equipment meets regulatory and internal safety standards.
  • Participate in safety audits and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement in workplace safety.

Job Requirements:

Education & Certifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical certification or associate degree in industrial maintenance or a related field preferred.

Technical Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

Required:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial equipment maintenance, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.

 

Job Location: Howell, Mi 100% In-Office – no remote, no hybrid option.
