Description
A Housekeeping and Laundry Supervisor in a nursing home facility oversees environmental services and infection control. They manage staff, ensure resident rooms and common areas are sanitary, oversee laundry processing, and ensure compliance with strict healthcare regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
- Department Management: Plan, organize, and direct the day-to-day operations of both the housekeeping and laundry departments to ensure a clean, comfortable, and safe environment.
- Staff Supervision: Hire, train, schedule, and evaluate housekeeping and laundry aides. Conduct regular meetings and performance reviews.
- Quality Assurance & Inspections: Make daily rounds to inspect resident rooms, bathrooms, common spaces, and clinical areas for sanitation, order, and safety.
- Infection Control: Ensure staff strictly follow universal precautions, isolation procedures, and sanitation guidelines to prevent the spread of infections.
- Supply & Equipment Inventory: Monitor usage and maintain adequate inventory of cleaning supplies, linens, and garments. Ensure equipment is clean, maintained, and in safe working order.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all operations meet federal, state, and local nursing home guidelines.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Key Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 1-3 years of housekeeping or environmental services experience, preferably in a healthcare setting like a long-term care facility or hospital.
- Leadership: Strong supervisory and team-management abilities with a proven track record of training and motivating staff.
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of institutional cleaning methods, sanitation standards, and commercial laundry processes.
- Soft Skills: Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills. Must be able to interact tactfully with residents, families, and staff.
