Supports sales and use tax compliance engagements for multi-state clients, including reviewing sales data, preparing and reviewing returns, assisting with registrations, resolving notices, and helping clients meet ongoing filing requirements under the supervision of experienced tax professionals.
Responsibilities:
- Reviews sales and transactional data to support accurate sales and use tax return preparation and filing.
- Prepares and reviews sales and use tax returns for multiple state and local jurisdictions.
- Assists with registration setup, account maintenance, and jurisdictional filing requirements.
- Responds to notices from state and local tax authorities and helps track resolution of open items
- Reconciles return data to source records, identifies variances, and assists with correcting filing issues
- Maintains organized workpapers, filing calendars, and supporting documentation for compliance engagements.
- Uses Excel and other data tools to organize, validate, and analyze transaction data for return preparation and review
- Ensures timely and accurate completion of assigned projects while meeting deadlines and budget expectations
Skills:
- Knowledge of sales and use tax compliance processes, return preparation, and filing requirements.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including working with large data sets, sorting, filtering, reconciliations, and basic formulas.
- Experience using data tools and related software to organize, validate, and analyze transaction data
- Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines by setting priorities effectively.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and clients
- Candidates with exposure to US taxation concepts (Sales & Use Tax)preferred, though training can be provided
- Strong capabilities in handling large datasets and high-volume compliance work
- Experience working with global teams or US-based stakeholders
- Emphasis on process adherence, documentation, and audit readiness
