 Job Title: HVAC Engineer  Specialist – Offshore Island Project

KBR Abu Dhabi PMC Team  is currently looking to fill a position of HVAC Engineer  Specialist  for an Offshore Island Project to be based in UAE ( Abu Dhabi) as soon as the administrative processes are completed, will then relocate to Spain Office and then return to Abu Dhabi .

Key Responsibilities

Job Purpose

The HVAC Specialist Engineer is responsible for the design, review, and execution of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems for ADNOC Offshore facilities. The role ensures that HVAC systems are designed, installed, tested, and commissioned in compliance with ADNOC standards, international codes, project specifications, and offshore safety requirements. The engineer will support all phases of the project including FEED, Detailed Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning, and Start-up.

Key Responsibilities

HVAC Engineering & Design

  • Perform HVAC design calculations for offshore platforms, substations, control rooms, electrical rooms, accommodation modules, and utility buildings.
  • Develop HVAC system design basis, philosophies, specifications, and technical reports.
  • Prepare and review:
    • HVAC Load Calculations
    • Ventilation and Pressurization Studies
    • HVAC Equipment Data Sheets
    • HVAC Layouts and Ducting Drawings
    • Air Distribution Schematics
    • Equipment Schedules
  • Ensure adequate temperature control, ventilation, humidity control, and indoor air quality requirements.

Offshore & Hazardous Area Requirements

  • Design HVAC systems for hazardous and non-hazardous offshore areas.
  • Ensure compliance with hazardous area classification requirements.
  • Develop and review pressurization systems for electrical and control rooms.
  • Ensure smoke control and emergency ventilation requirements are incorporated into the design.
  • Evaluate HVAC requirements for offshore living quarters and critical operational facilities.

Equipment Engineering

  • Specify and review HVAC equipment including:
    • Air Handling Units (AHUs)
    • Chillers
    • Package HVAC Units
    • Precision Air Conditioning Units
    • Exhaust Fans
    • Fresh Air Fans
    • Pressurization Units
    • Duct Heaters and Air Filters
  • Review vendor drawings, technical documents, and performance calculations.
  • Participate in technical bid evaluations and vendor selection processes.

Multidisciplinary Coordination

  • Interface with Process, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Safety, Structural, and Architectural disciplines.
  • Coordinate HVAC design with fire and gas systems, building management systems, and utility systems.
  • Participate in HAZOP, HAZID, Design Reviews, and Safety Workshops.

Procurement & Vendor Management

  • Prepare Technical Requisitions (MR/TBE).
  • Evaluate vendor proposals and ensure technical compliance.
  • Review and approve vendor documents and manufacturing data.
  • Support procurement activities and material selection.

Construction & Commissioning Support

  • Provide technical support during fabrication, installation, testing, and commissioning.
  • Conduct site inspections and resolve field engineering issues.
  • Witness Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
  • Support HVAC system start-up, performance testing, and handover activities.

Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure compliance with:
    • ADNOC Engineering Standards
    • ASHRAE Standards
    • NFPA Codes
    • SMACNA Standards
    • ISO Standards
    • International Building and Offshore Standards
  • Ensure HVAC design satisfies energy efficiency and sustainability requirements.
  • Participate in technical audits and design verification activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • Master's Degree in HVAC, Mechanical Engineering, or Energy Systems is preferred.
  • Professional Engineering Certification is an advantage.
  • ASHRAE Membership or relevant HVAC certifications preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 18 years of HVAC engineering experience in Oil & Gas projects.
  • Minimum 5 years in a Specialist/Senior HVAC role for offshore facilities.
  • Strong experience on ADNOC, Saudi Aramco, QatarEnergy, or other major offshore projects.
  • Experience in FEED, Detailed Engineering, EPC, and Brownfield/Greenfield projects.
  • Knowledge of offshore platform and accommodation module HVAC systems.
