What You'll Do as a Planner 3
•    Act as principal liaison between the Ohio Department of Public Safety (ODPS) Division of Homeland Security & various federal, county, city &/or municipal infrastructure protection agencies or personnel performing critical infrastructure protection duties;
•    Participate in deployments to the field for events & critical incidents in order to support security operations; Provide security consultation to state & local partners related to current or future events;
•    Utilize state vehicle & trailer to transport (i.e., deliver &/or pickup) SkyWatch Towers at pre-determined locations & events throughout the state; Transport SkyWatch Towers to Alum Creek Facility for any maintenance &/or repair needs;
•    Ensure Skywatch Tower is set up for operational use & is fully functional; Work with ODPS support staff (i.e., Information Technology, Electronic Technicians, etc.) to resolve any operational issues;
•    Provide training to requesting agency on operation of the tower to include but not limited to ascending/descending the tower, HVAC controls, camera operation, remote viewing, video security, etc. per the agency MOU with DPS/OHS;

OPTION 1:
Completion of undergraduate core program or 24 mos. exp. in assigned program area (e.g., engineering, landscape architecture, rehabilitation, mental health technology, transportation, physical, behavioral & social science, urban or community planning, natural resources, business or public administration); 
AND - 9 mos. trg. or 9 mos. exp. in operational, mathematical, analytical or statistical research methods used in conducting & documenting research studies;
AND - 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in public relations; 
AND - 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in budgeting; 
AND - 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in technical writing or business communication.

OPTION 2:
-Or 6 mos. exp. as Planner 2, 85312, in assigned program area.

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Physical Security Professional (PSP) Certification or Certified Protection Professional (CPP) Certification

Assigned Program Area:
Infrastructure Protection, Emergency Management, Homeland Security, Cyber Security, Information Technology, Critical Infrastructure or related field.

Job Skills: Planning and Development

 

• This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a federal Secret level Security Clearance
• This position is essential, meaning the duties this job performs are critical to the continued operations of the Ohio Department of Public Safety during a public safety emergency (OAC 123: 1-46-01 & DAS Directive HR-D-11). This position will be required to report for duty during any public safety emergency.  
• Must acquire and maintain Protected Critical Infrastructure Information (PCII) and Chemical-terrorism Vulnerability Information (CVI) certification.
• Must acquire FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate within 6 months of employment and renew it every 24 months.
• Must attend training and obtain Commercial Drivers License (CDL) by completion of probationary period; Must maintain valid CDL throughout employment.

Background Check Information
• A BCI and FBI fingerprint check, a background check, including a polygraph examination, may be required on all selected applicants. 
• A comparative analysis and/or drug-test may be a requirement of the hiring process.
• This position is subject to federal testing regulations pursuant to 49 CFR Part 40 (Federal Drug and Alcohol Regulations) and 49 CFR Part 382 (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration), which prohibit the use of marijuana, including medical marijuana. Medical marijuana is prohibited as a valid medical explanation for a positive drug test for final applicants in this position.
