Job Description
The Lead Material Handler is responsible for coordinating daily material handling activities, ensuring accurate inventory control and supporting production readiness. This role serves as a team lead, providing guidance, training and workflow direction to material handling staff while also ensuring compliance with industry standards, quality requirements and internal procedures.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Leads daily material handling operations including receiving, put-away, picking, kitting, issuing, and shipping of components and material. Coordinates workflow and prioritizes tasks to support production schedules and customer delivery requirements. Ensures timely and accurate movement of materials across warehouse and production areas. (20%)
- Maintains high levels of inventory accuracy through cycle counting, reconciliation, and ERP/MRP system transactions. Investigates and resolves inventory discrepancies, implementing corrective actions as needed. Supports audits (internal, customer, regulatory) with proper documentation and traceability. (20%)
- Ensures adherence to industry regulations and maintains compliance with material handling procedures, shelf-life control, lot traceability, and serialization requirements. (20%)
- Provides day-to-day guidance, task assignment, and training to material handlers and warehouse personnel. Acts as a point of escalation for operational issues and problem-solving. (20%)
- Identifies and assists in the implementation of process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce waste and improve accuracy. Utilizes ERP/MRP systems to manage inventory transactions, track materials and generate reports. (20%)
Representative Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Prior experience in a lead or senior role with informal or formal supervisory responsibilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally.
- Physical ability to lift, push and pull materials and equipment
