馃殌 Project Overview
You will join a dynamic engineering squad within a rapidly growing social and professional community network platform. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the continuous development and feature expansion of a high-traffic community application. The team is currently focused on scaling the backend architecture to handle high-volume user engagement, ensuring the product meets its core roadmap deliverables, and overcoming complex data and performance challenges.
馃攳 Key Responsibilities
- Feature Delivery: Build, test, and ship scalable backend features utilizing Node.js and TypeScript to keep the platform securely on its target release timeline.
- API Architecture: Architect, expand, and optimize highly performant RESTful and/or GraphQL API endpoints designed to serve rapid, real-time client-side applications.
- Data & Caching Management: Implement, query, and maintain high-speed data structures within MongoDB (document database) and Redis (caching/in-memory data layer).
- Performance Optimization: Actively identify, diagnose, and resolve system bottlenecks, driving measurable architectural improvements against established baselines.
- Production Support: Participate in daytime on-call production support loops, handling real-time bug fixes and performance degradation issues.
- CI/CD & DevOps: Maintain and troubleshoot continuous integration and continuous deployment tracks utilizing GitLab CI to ensure stable code shipping to production environments.
- Agile Collaboration: Collaborate tightly within an Agile ecosystem alongside frontend engineers, product managers, and various business stakeholders to drive features from design to end-to-end delivery.
馃挕 Must-Have Skills
- Experience: 3 to 5+ years of professional software engineering experience centered heavily on backend services.
- Backend Stack: High-level proficiency with Node.js and TypeScript.
- Databases: Direct experience managing and writing efficient structures for non-relational storage, specifically MongoDB and Redis.
- APIs: Strong background designing, building, and scaling modern RESTful or GraphQL API integrations.
- CI/CD Tools: Practical experience with production CI/CD platforms, specifically GitLab CI.
- Methodologies: Experience working in Agile teams and remote environments.
- Language: Fluent English for daily communication.
馃専 Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience integrating email delivery infrastructure platforms such as SendGrid or similar transactional notification systems.
- General exposure to relational structures or cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake or Amazon Redshift.
馃寪 Time Zone & Collaboration
The role requires close collaboration with teams aligned to Central Time (CT). Full overlap with US Central Time working hours is expected to ensure synchronous teamwork and participation in daily ceremonies.
