Job Description

Ivy Tech Evansville seeks qualified adjunct faculty to supplement the Psychology instruction needs of our students at the Evansville, IN campus. This person teaches students who may go on to have careers as a social worker, psychologist, psychiatrist, or many other industries.
Adjunct Faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions hired each semester on an as-needed basis. The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided by the School.

Major Responsibilities:

Candidates considered for adjunct positions under this postings must be able to provide instruction in person at the Evansville, IN campus.

PROGRAM OPERATION:

  • Perform all instructional duties necessary to teach and facilitate student learning in assigned classes.
  • Provide syllabus appropriate to course(s) being taught to students and follows syllabus content and requirements.
  • Maintain student attendance and grading records according to College policy as outlined in the Adjunct Handbook.
  • Submits requested information within established timelines.

STUDENTS:

  • Is available to students outside scheduled class time to answer questions/provide assistance.
  • Deal with student concerns and, if necessary, consult with program coordinator to resolve issues.

INSTRUCTION:

  • Meet all scheduled classes of contracted course(s). Use technology such as Blackboard, Canva, PowerPoint, etc. as appropriate.
  • In event of emergency absence, notifies program/department chair.
  • Conduct all activities with an appreciation and respect for diversity of people, styles, and views. Promote same as an integral part of one's work.

Hiring Range:

  • $45.00 per contact hour (approximately $2,160 per 8-week course).

Work Hours:  

  • This role would start in August and run during the fall term.
  • Adjunct Faculty positions typically begin at the start of semesters or the midpoint,: January, March, August, or October. Specific hours will depend on classes assigned but may include evenings.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Possesses an earned master's or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution, in psychology, educational psychology, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, social psychology, or any other professionally recognized specialty in psychology

or

  • Possesses an earned master's or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution, in any field with 18 graduate semester hours in psychology-related courses, including a course in statistics and/or research methodology

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as faculty in higher education.
  • Previous clinical or applied psychology experience
