Responsibilities
- Possess solid knowledge of data engineering practices, demonstrating a passion for quality and best practice.
- Adopt a continuous learning mindset, proactively seeking out and working on your areas of self development (technical & non technical).
- Support the adoption of modern cloud-based data platforms (with a clear path into Databricks - including support for certification)
- Be trusted to own and deliver stories and deliverables end-to-end, delivering quality production-ready outputs.
- Write well-tested, automated code — building unit tests and automation flows as standard practice, not an afterthought.
- Understand how project stories and deliverables fit into the broader project context, pre-empting different types of issues and scenarios that may be encountered.
- Work closely with SMEs, testers and end users, keeping communication proactive and surfacing blockers early.
- Contribute actively in team discussions - bringing ideas and building a reputation for quality work as a trusted, collaborative team mate.
Qualifications
- Strong SQL skills (data modeling, query optimisation, stored procedures).
- Design, develop and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines for batch and streaming data.
- Experience with at least one programming language: Python, Java, or Scala (Python preferred) and experience with Oracle
- Solid understanding of Data warehouse concepts (star schema, slowly changing dimensions)
- Knowledge of version control (Github)
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) or platforms like Snowflake, Databricks.
