About this role
As an Associate in our Brisbane Forensic Accounting practice, you will have the opportunity to develop your career on your own terms as part of a high-performing, motivated team.
You will apply your analytical skills and commercial acumen across a broad range of forensic and dispute advisory engagements, including contentious valuations, commercial loss and damage claims, insurance events, accounting reviews and investigations.
Our Brisbane team primarily undertakes Dispute Advisory assignments, providing exposure to a diverse range of complex and high-profile matters. This role is well suited to candidates from Audit or Business Services who are looking to transition into forensic accounting.
Some of the exciting projects this team has recently worked on include:
- Assessment of loss and damage for a group of claimants as part of class action proceedings
- Valuation of a minority interest in a large Queensland-based manufacturer as part of shareholder oppression proceedings
- Assessment of economic loss in large insurance litigation claims
- Complex valuations for family law and estate disputes
- Disputes arising under purchase and sale agreements
- Review of transactions across several financial years to identify misreporting and alleged fraud
Key responsibilities
- Support and advise on a range of forensic engagements, including valuations, commercial loss and damage claims, insurance matters and accounting reviews
- Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships, including client liaison
- Perform detailed financial analysis to assess business performance and support expert reports
- Conduct research across business, industry and economic data
- Contribute to business development and internal practice activities
Skills and experience
- CA / CPA (or working towards), or CFA
- 1 - 3 years’ experience in Audit or Business Services within a professional services environment
- Interest in forensic accounting, disputes and valuations (prior forensic experience not required, but would be valued)
- Strong analytical capability with attention to detail
- Ability to think critically and apply commercial judgement
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
