Job Duties:

The successful candidate will be able to teach statistics and mathematics courses for general education as well as courses in the Mathematics majors. This is a tenure-track, nine-month faculty position in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. The position is based at the Stevens Point campus and involves courses primarily taught in person, but there is a possibility of teaching assignments at the Wausau campus or Marshfield campus, and of online or hybrid courses. Maintaining an active research agenda and providing leadership and service to the university, community, and profession are required for tenure. A typical teaching load is twelve credit hours per semester.

The Department of Mathematical Sciences offers majors in Mathematics, Mathematics with Actuarial Emphasis, and Mathematics for Teacher Certification. It includes 25 faculty and academic staff across 3 campuses with about 70 majors and 30 minors. The Department of Mathematical Sciences is committed to diversity in its curriculum and prepares students for a diverse and inclusive world.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in statistics, actuarial science, or data analytics awarded before August 2024; or, a Ph.D. in mathematics or mathematics education may be acceptable with substantial work in statistics or statistics education.
  • Experience and/or demonstrated commitment to undergraduate teaching.
  • Demonstrated success and/or interest in teaching first- and second-year statistics and mathematics courses.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching diverse groups.
  • Experience teaching with current educational tools and methods.
  • Experience and/or demonstrated commitment to online course development and teaching.

Terms of Employment:

This is a tenure-track, academic-year-based faculty position. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
