Bullying Prevention Coordinator

Position Summary:
Incumbent will provide oversight of the district Bullying Prevention program. Under the general guidance the coordinator will work in a team oriented environment to monitor bullying allegations, investigations, and interventions.

Essential Duties:
  • Provides oversight and assistance for development and operation of school-based bullying programs
  • Works with administrative, instructional and non-instructional staff, parents, community members, and students to coordinate intervention and prevention programs to decrease bullying incidents within schools.
  • Provides Professional Development/Training for school staff on bullying, inclusive of preventative and appropriate responsive measures and programs.
  • Coordinates the TIPS Hotline for the District; and serves as the point of contact for suicide and bullying.
  • Provides training to district employees regarding child abuse reporting, threats of violence, bullying, suicidal ideation and district policies pertaining to each
  • Coordinates existing school and community resources to work with individuals directly associated with a bullying event.
  • Resolves incidents and promotes a safe academic and social environment that supports and fosters student growth and achievement
  • Collects, aggregates, interprets and disseminates data related to bullying trends, patterns, and provides recommendations on appropriate responsive measures to address identified areas of need.
  • Acts as a level 2 Bullying Allegation Investigator for the district
  • Promotes the overall effectiveness of the organization by performing tasks and sharing responsibilities of other members of the Department during peak periods or when there is an overload of duties.
  • Coordinates the submission of all required reports/data to the Oklahoma State Department of Education
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities):
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education
  • 5 year’s work experience
  • Oklahoma State Teaching Certificate
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good planning, analytical and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work well with others in a diverse education community
  • Ability to promote effective coordination of aligned community education activities with regular education with the needs and interests of the community
  • Computer software application skills required (i.e., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Possess a valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities):
  • Counseling endorsement/certification
  • Knowledge of adult learning and experience training adult learners

*Relevant experience may be substituted for formal education at a 2:1 ratio. Therefore for every 1 year of college lacking, 2 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted.

Physical/Mental Requirements:
  • Must have adequate manual dexterity to write legibly and perform required duties on the computer.
  • Must have adequate visual acuity to read, interpret and transcribe written material and other required duties.
  • Requires normal range of hearing and clear speaking abilities to interact appropriately with others in person and on the telephone.
  • Requires some stooping, bending, stretching and occasional lifting not to exceed 25 pounds.
  • Sitting for prolonged periods of time.
  • May periodically require work outside of normal business hours, including weekends, under sometimes. stressful conditions in order to meet business needs and strict deadlines.

Work Environment:
  • Office duties will be performed in a well-lighted, climate controlled environment.
  • Flexible work space at campus sites as provided by the site
  • Use of personal vehicle for travel within and outside the district
