DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Platform Architecture & Administration
- Architect, deploy, and administer enterprise SharePoint environments encompassing both SharePoint Online (M365 GCC High tenant) and on-premises SharePoint Server, ensuring high availability, performance, and security across all environments.
- Lead the design and implementation of site architecture, information architecture, and governance frameworks that scale to enterprise needs while aligning with business objectives and compliance requirements.
- Manage site collections, web applications, content databases, and service applications across GA’s SPOL tenants and SharePoint SE farm, proactively monitoring and tuning for optimal performance.
- Administer and support Microsoft Project Server / Project Online, including configuration, permissions, project site provisioning, and ongoing operational support for enterprise project management capabilities.
- Plan and execute SharePoint migrations, upgrades, and environment consolidations, leveraging tools such as the SharePoint Migration Tool (SPMT) and ShareGate.
- Maintain and optimize Search service applications, managed metadata / term store, content types, site columns, and taxonomy to ensure consistent, enterprise-wide findability.
- Configure and maintain SharePoint hybrid scenarios, including hybrid search, hybrid sites, and OneDrive for Business hybrid, bridging on-premises and cloud environments.
- Serve as the resident subject matter expert on Microsoft 365 GCC High, maintaining deep familiarity with its unique compliance posture (FedRAMP High, CMMC, DFARS, ITAR/EAR) and the architectural constraints that distinguish it from commercial M365 tenants.
- Navigate and communicate GCC High limitations to stakeholders, including restricted external sharing (GCC High and DoD tenants only), reduced third-party app catalog availability, delayed feature rollout relative to commercial M365, and the absence of certain Graph API capabilities.
- Evaluate third-party add-ins, connectors, and Power Platform integrations for GCC High compatibility before deployment, understanding that not all commercial solutions are certified for the government cloud.
- Maintain compliance with data handling standards applicable to Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), ensuring SharePoint configurations align with organizational CMMC and NIST 800-171 obligations.
- Partner with the security team to implement and manage sensitivity labels, Microsoft Purview Information Protection policies, and Data Loss Prevention (DLP) configurations within the GCC High environment.
- Develop and maintain advanced PowerShell scripts using the PnP PowerShell framework, SharePoint Online Management Shell, and the Microsoft Graph PowerShell SDK to automate provisioning, configuration, reporting, and lifecycle management tasks at scale.
- Author robust, reusable, and well-documented script libraries for tasks including bulk site collection creation, permissions auditing, storage quota management, orphaned account cleanup, and content migration operations.
- Leverage PowerShell to extend capabilities in the GCC High environment where GUI-based tooling or Graph API functionality may be limited, filling operational gaps through scripted automation.
- Build automated health-check, alerting, and reporting pipelines that surface environment metrics and usage data to IT leadership and stakeholders.
- Design and implement sophisticated Power Automate workflows to automate complex business processes integrated with SharePoint, including multi-stage approvals, document lifecycle automation, records management triggers, and cross-system data synchronization.
- Develop Power Apps canvas and model-driven applications that surface and interact with SharePoint data, providing enhanced user experiences beyond what native SharePoint forms offer.
- Apply advanced Power Automate patterns including error handling and retry logic, parallel branches, scoped actions, and use of HTTP connectors and custom connectors within the constraints of the GCC High environment.
- Evaluate Power Platform feature availability in GCC High, advising the organization on current limitations (e.g., certain connector availability, AI Builder constraints) and driving approved workarounds.
- Establish Power Platform governance practices, including environment management, data loss prevention (DLP) policy configuration, and Center of Excellence (CoE) toolkit administration.
- Design and enforce least-privilege permission models across all SharePoint environments; conduct regular permissions audits, remediate oversharing, and establish governance policies that prevent permission sprawl.
- Manage Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) integration with SharePoint, including security groups, conditional access policies, and identity governance relevant to SharePoint access.
- Define and implement SharePoint governance policies covering site provisioning, naming conventions, retention schedules, records declaration, and content lifecycle management.
- Configure and maintain backup and disaster recovery procedures for SharePoint on-premises farms; validate recoverability through periodic restore testing.
- Partner closely with business stakeholders, project managers, and end-users to gather requirements, translate them into technical SharePoint solutions, and drive adoption across the enterprise.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior administrators and team members, elevating the overall SharePoint competency of the ITS organization.
- Deliver clear, concise technical documentation, runbooks, architecture diagrams, and end-user training materials that enable self-sufficiency and reduce operational dependency.
- Solicit, deduce, and document epics and user stories from customer requirements; actively contribute to Agile Scrum sprint planning and retrospectives.
Continuous Improvement & Innovation
- Stay current with Microsoft 365 roadmap developments, evaluating new features and their applicability (and GCC High availability) to continuously improve the platform’s experience.
- Identify and champion opportunities for process improvement, automation, and modernization across the SharePoint and broader M365 ecosystem.
- Assess and perform systems utilization and headroom reporting to assist in capacity planning, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
We recognize and appreciate the value and contributions of individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences and welcome all qualified individuals to apply.
