Phalen Family clinic is a conveniently located neighborhood clinic on Maryland Avenue in St. Paul that offers comprehensive care for your entire family, through all stages of life. We make everyday care for kids and adults easy, from annual checkups, vaccinations, and sports physicals to treatment for common illnesses, mental health care, women’s health care, and more. This position is eligible for up to a $2,000 New Hire Sign On Bonus!
As a member of the care team, the Medical Assistant supports quality patient- and family-centered care principles through performing a variety of high-level functions within a care team to support the needs of the healthcare team and patients/families. The Medical Assistant delivers care as delegated by the physicians/authorized practitioner, or registered nurse (RN) to assigned patient populations or individual patients. Delegates care may include (but is not limited to): medication administration, vaccine administration, injections, phlebotomy (blood draws), assisting with sterile procedures, collecting vital signs.
Responsibilities
- Delivers care as delegated by the physician/authorized practitioner or RN, to assigned patient population, or individual patient.
- Prioritizes work based on patient acuity, available resources, patient/family preferences, provider schedule, in collaboration with the physician/authorized practitioner and other health care team members.
- Performs high and low risk technical procedures defined by the clinical setting includes medication and vaccine administration, specimen collection, assistance with CPR.
- Effectively communicates compliance and concerns to delegating physician/authorized practitioner/RN.
- Takes action to assure continuity of care for all assigned patients.
- Documents care in the medical record.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program or
- Graduate of an LPN program
- A clinical externship is required for non-certified MA applicants with less than six (6) months of Medical Assistant experience
- Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc, Red Cross or MTN)
