People management
- Build, lead and develop the Malaysia finance team to support Accounting, Tax, Treasury, and FP&A activities in partnership with the Chief Financial Officer and Country Head.

- Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including Group Head of Functions, auditors, lenders, vendors, outsourced service providers, and relevant government authorities.
Business planning, reporting and analysis
- Act as a strategic business partner to the Malaysia leadership team, providing management analysis, financial insights, and support for strategic planning and decision-making.
- Own and lead the end-to-end delivery of the finance function, ensuring timely, accurate preparation and interpretation of management reports, budgets, accounts, commentaries, and financial statements for monthly and annual reporting cycles.
- Lead the development of annual operating and capital budgets through a collaborative process with local management and Group Functions.
- Monitor and control project and capital expenditure against approved budgets, working closely with operations, functional, and country management teams, including on-site engagement where required.
- Support project development and execution by delivering financial analysis, process improvements, structural tax input, cost tracking, participation in project governance forums, and support through financial close.
- Prepare and present detailed financial reports, analysis, and commentary for projects progressing through financial close, construction, and operational phases, for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead and maintain accounting and reporting systems for financial close, forecasting, and reporting, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.

Cash and Liquidity Management
- Lead the treasury function, managing corporate bank relationships and optimising the use of credit facilities and cash resources.
- Manage cash flow, liquidity, funding requirements, and distributions to holding companies, ensuring compliance with Malaysian tax, regulatory, and group requirements.
- Oversee debt and equity drawdowns for project finance activities, including covenant compliance, lender reporting, and funding approval processes.
- Manage financing-related payments, including milestone and contractor payments, bank guarantees, and lender approvals in accordance with financing agreements.
- Provide strategic financial analysis and advice to Chief Financial Officer, country leadership and Group Head of Functions on liquidity, funding, and capital management, ensuring robust controls and adherence to Vena delegation and payment policies.
Risk management and internal control
- Ensure full compliance with local statutory requirements, including Sales & Services Tax, corporate tax filings, and year-end closing, coordinating closely with external auditors and local accounting firms to achieve clean audit outcomes.
- Maintain a robust internal control framework aligned with Malaysian regulatory expectations, including periodic internal audits, review of compliance policies, and adherence to Vena Group’s Approvals Protocol.
- Act as key finance and accounting advisor to Chief Financial Officer, Malaysia Country Head, Group Head of Functions, and local management on MFRS/IFRS differences, tax structuring, and localisation of group accounting and finance policies.
- Manage and oversee outsourced accounting and tax providers, where applicable, in Malaysia, ensuring accurate monthly reporting, timely payments, and service quality consistent with contractual SLAs and international business standards.
- Establish and drive continuous improvement of finance systems, processes, and internal controls in Malaysia, including ERP implementation, standardisation of finance procedures, and strengthening governance, transparency, and decision-making.
- Coordinate with company secretarial, compliance, and external advisors to administer statutory filings, board resolutions, equity and distribution records, and corporate governance requirements under Malaysian law.
Financial accounting and reporting
- Provide technical accounting leadership, assess contract treatments, and guide contractual terms to optimise accounting and tax outcomes, securing auditor and Chief Financial Officer’s approval.
- Lead end-to-end monthly, quarterly, and year-end close in line with group timetables, including intercompany reconciliations.
- Own, maintain direct oversight, and control project budgets and SG&A budgets
- Review and deliver monthly financial packs and management reporting with clear variance analysis versus budget and forecast.
- Prepare and submit half-yearly and annual group reporting packs for Group HQ and auditors; manage external audit processes to achieve clean opinions.
- Lead preparation and review of statutory financial statements across all entities.
- Develop team capability through technical training and mentoring on complex accounting areas.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Professional accounting certification (e.g., CPA, CA, ACCA)
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive finance experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Experience in data centre and/or renewable energy industry is a plus
- Experience in finance, accounting audit preferably in large, complex organisations, professional services or private equity.
- Demonstrated experience in leading and managing finance function, and delivering high-quality financial information, analysis and advice.
- Strong knowledge of Malaysia accounting standards, tax laws and regulatory environment and experience in preparing and presenting financial statements and reports
- Ability to operate strategically with an ability to problem solve, support and understand challenges at the operational level.
- Significant leadership and management experience in working with, advising and/or supporting C-Suite members and Boards.
