
Modeling Simulation Software Engineer
Job Description
- Be a member of a fast-paced multidisciplinary mission operations modeling, simulation, and analysis team informing the United States Space Force acquisition decision process.
- Your background and interest in simulation development will be highly valued in developing and testing simulation applications. You'll be integrating mission simulation tools into an automated system-level trade study execution architecture.
- You will have a strong hand in defining requirements, specifying designs, and implementing an ever-growing portfolio of space mission operations analysis simulations and trade studies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in aerospace, astronautics, mathematics, or physics and five (5) years of experience with:
- At least one programming language: MATLAB, Python, Java, C#, or C++.
- Live, virtual, and/or constructive (LVC) simulation techniques and technologies.
- Simulation development experience with simulation environments such as STK, AFSIM, GMAT, or FreeFlyer.
- MATLAB and/or Simulink or other simulation scripting languages.
- Preparing and delivering presentations and technical demonstrations.
- Satellite orbital mechanics & maneuvers, remote sensing, spacecraft launch/command/control, and/or satellite communications.
- Equivalent experience with airborne systems is applicable to this role.
- Managing files & directories, network file sharing, installing software & licenses, and command line shell (Windows Cmd or Bash).
- Active TS clearance with in-scope T5/SSBI is required, along with SCI eligibility and participation in Continuous Evaluation.
- Must meet all requirements for SCI and SAP access and be willing to undergo a polygraph examination.
- Travel is 10%.
Desired Qualifications:
- Simulation software development, test, and integration experience in a team environment. Use of Agile methodology and Atlassian Jira are beneficial.
- Prior industry experience in aerospace or space & defense.
- Systems engineering, with experience defining and executing trade studies. Engineering methodologies such as Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), Multidisciplinary Design Analysis Optimization (MDAO), or Model-Based Design are a plus. Demonstrated knowledge of supporting toolsets such as Cameo Enterprise Architect, Sparx Systems EA, or Ansys ModelCenter would be helpful.
- Participation in engineering peer reviews, both as a developer and as a reviewer.
- Advanced degree in engineering with emphasis on applications to space launch, orbit propagation, and maneuvering.
- Professional certification (e.g., Professional Engineer, INCOSE CSEP, ITEA CTEP, Agile PM/PO, OMG OCSMP, etc.).
Target salary range: $120,000 - $160,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range and bonus potential for this position based on experience and other factors.
