Job Description
The Auto Technician is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on all Company vehicles to ensure safety, reliability, and compliance with inspection standards. This role supports operational efficiency by maintaining vehicles in optimal working condition and recommending preventative maintenance solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on company vehicles, machinery, and mechanical systems
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and system issues using appropriate diagnostic tools
- Conduct vehicle inspections and assessments; report issues that may prevent vehicles from passing inspections
- Repair or replace defective components according to manufacturer and safety specifications
- Assemble mechanical components and systems as required
- Maintain accurate work logs, service reports, and maintenance records
- Recommend preventative maintenance and vehicle care procedures to extend vehicle life
- Develop and implement maintenance plans for repairs, upgrades, and servicing
- Monitor parts and supply inventory; submit requests for replacement parts and tools as needed
- Ensure all workspaces, tools, and equipment are kept clean, organized, and safe
- Alert management promptly of critical vehicle issues or safety concerns
- Comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
- Perform any other duties as assigned by Management
Job Requirements
- Basic formal education
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a professional automotive mechanic or technician
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple repair tasks effectively
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds
Certification Requirements
- Automotive certification or certification in Automotive Technology is required
- Additional manufacturer or specialty certifications are considered an asset
Language Requirements
- Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly, and courteously with employees and guests
- Ability to read and write English to understand technical manuals, maintenance procedures, and work orders
- Ability to provide and receive instructions verbally and in writing and respond effectively to questions from management and co-workers
Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, reach, and use hands to handle tools and components
- Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Required vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- Ability to hear and communicate effectively in work and emergency situations
- Must be physically capable of participating in emergency response and lifesaving drills, with full range of motion of arms and legs and full visual, verbal, and auditory abilities
