What is EUDR?

The European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) is a new regulation that applies to our industry. It aims to combat deforestation and forest degradation by ensuring that products placed and made available on or exported from the EU market have not caused damage to forests.

EUDR has an impact on our sourcing, forestry, production, supply chain, and customer facing operations, affecting our packaging sites and virgin paper mills. It is a mandatory requirement, and failing to comply could result in fines, confiscation of goods, temporary prohibition from trading, and reputational damage.

In-scope businesses must exercise due diligence on their in-scope products, and related supply chains, to ensure that they are compliant with EUDR when placing products on the Union market or exporting them.

You will:

Support Rollout of Initial Supplier Risk Assessment (Osapiens)
 

  • Support the Osapiens Risk Assessment launch activity for Procurement related suppliers:

  • Monitor the central mailbox and screen for Procurement related supplier queries

  • Respond to supplier queries, liaising and directing to local Procurement Leads as required

  • Proactively support suppliers with access to and completion of risk assessments within the Osapiens platform
     

What is Osapiens?
DS Smith has partnered with Osapiens to provide an IT platform to support our EUDR compliance roadmap. Osapiens develop holistic Software-as-a-Service solutions that create transparency and sustainable growth along the entire value chain.
 

Administration of Supplier EUDR Risk Assessments (Osapiens)
 

  • Act at the single point of contact for administrating Osapiens related supplier risk assessment activities

  • Timely response and action to new supplier add requests, onboarding these suppliers into Osapiens and issue of supplier EUDR risk assessment. Work closely with business point of contact for respective supplier to ensure any required mitigation measures are captured and tracked via the Osapiens platform

  • Monitor the status of existing suppliers, status of re-issued risk assessments and mitigation measures. Work with respective supplier owners to ensure action is taken where required

  • Targeting highest risk suppliers, perform periodic monitoring/audits and provide supplier owners to identify and progress actions to reduce risk level of supplier

  • Liaise/work with EUDR I&T support team to help resolve issues that suppliers may have accessing Osapiens platform and completing their risk assessments

  • Supporting procurement users with EUDR related inquiries

Monitoring and Reporting
 

  • Conduct regular monitoring of Osapiens platform to identify problems and initiate corrective action where required (e.g., overdue risk assessments, overdue mitigation actions)

  • Prepare and submit routine reports to a high standard, highlighting any areas of concern

  • Engage and consult with supplier owners/points of contact where intervention is required

You have:

  • Eagerness to work in a procurement or sustainability environment

  • Experience in using Excel and PowerPoint

  • Availability to work at least 20 hours per week

  • Status of a student or recent graduate willing to gain experience

  • Analytical thinking and attention to detail

  • Positive attitude and openness to working in an international team

  • Willingness to take ownership of tasks and follow through on assigned responsibilities

  • Ability to identify issues and escalate or propose solutions where appropriate

  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal formats

  • Fluency in English

  • Fluency in another European language in Europe where DS Smith has a presence would be an advantage

  • Ability to support preparation of routine reports and data summaries

  • Experience working with online platforms, databases, or portals (e.g. SharePoint, SAP, or similar) will be considered advantageous

  • Basic familiarity with procurement or supply chain concepts (e.g. from studies or previous work experience) is a plus

  • General awareness of sustainability topics, environmental regulations, or supply chain responsibility is an asset
