System Administrator, Associate

Description
This role supports the administration of IBM iSeries platforms and related infrastructure, contributing to the stability and performance of critical internal systems that power enterprise operations such as ERP, payroll, and financial applications. As an associate-level system administrator, this position provides an opportunity to build foundational technical skills while supporting production environments, learning from senior team members, and contributing to automation and continuous improvement initiatives. This role is important in ensuring operational continuity, improving system efficiency, and developing the next generation of technical expertise within the team.
A Typical Day in the Life Includes:
- Managing incoming tickets and performing technical troubleshooting for system-related issues raised by internal users or developers
- Supporting system administration activities including configuration, backup and recovery, and performance tuning of servers
- Installing operating systems and configuring servers, including applying required tools and security solutions such as monitoring or endpoint protection tools
- Performing routine administrative tasks such as resetting user profiles and managing access credentials
- Learning and executing progressively complex tasks such as OS upgrades, system migrations, and server configuration under guidance from senior administrators
- Collaborating with team members across regions to support global operations and maintain service continuity across time zones
- Identifying opportunities to improve or automate repetitive processes using tools such as AI and contributing ideas to enhance operational efficiency
Basic Qualifications:
• Hands-on experience administering IBMi (AS/400) systems, including job management, user security, and system configuration
• Working knowledge of backup and recovery procedures, performance monitoring, and system health checks
• Experience providing operational IT support in a structured enterprise environment, including diagnosing and resolving system issues
• Ability to communicate clearly in English, both written and verbal, including documentation of technical procedures and status updates
• Comfortable working flexible hours aligned to EMEA time zones from a Manila base location
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize workload, and escalate issues appropriately
• Working knowledge of backup and recovery procedures, performance monitoring, and system health checks
• Experience providing operational IT support in a structured enterprise environment, including diagnosing and resolving system issues
• Ability to communicate clearly in English, both written and verbal, including documentation of technical procedures and status updates
• Comfortable working flexible hours aligned to EMEA time zones from a Manila base location
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize workload, and escalate issues appropriately
Preferred Qualifications:
• Familiarity with one or more additional platforms such as Linux, AIX, z/OS, Sun Solaris, or HP-UX
• Any combination of the following: IBM Certified Systems Administrator credential, ITIL Foundation, or equivalent infrastructure certification
• Bonus points for experience in a 24/7 or follow-the-sun infrastructure support model
• Exposure to scripting or automation for system administration tasks (e.g. shell, CL, or Python)
