Job Description
The Exhibit Technician II is responsible for the overall maintenance and repair of permanent and traveling exhibits. This position requires skills in low voltage electronics, audio/video, PC hardware and software for maintaining exhibits. This position assists with the load-in/load-out of traveling exhibits.
Essential Functions
- Ability to understand software for a variety of microcontrollers, including Arduino and Raspberry Pi, PC, and specialty show control systems.
- Assists with audio/visual needs associated with exhibits, live programming, and special events.
- Assist Senior Manager of Exhibits with the safe load-in/load-out of traveling exhibits.
- Identifies and diagnoses chronic or systemic technology defects in individual exhibits which reduces their efficiency and reliability or compromises the intended function.
- Demonstrates expertise in software and hardware computer systems including Windows (XP – 10), OS X (v10.3 – 10.12), Linux (preferred).
- Assists exhibit technicians with repairs and serves as a knowledge base for the team.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience & Certifications: 3-5 years’ relevant work experience.

- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to read complex blueprints, floor plans, and wiring diagrams.

- Good working knowledge and the ability to troubleshoot computer, electronic, electrical, and audio/video systems as necessary.
- Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Ability to use a wide variety of hand and power tools.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.

- Ascends/descends ladders or other equipment to perform various tasks.

- Communicates and exchanges accurate information with guests, staff, volunteers, and community partners in a variety of formats including in-person, electronically, and over the phone.
- Operates a computer and/or office equipment efficiently and accurately.
- Manipulates and moves components weighing up to 50 pounds, including those that may be low to the ground or above eye level.
- Occasionally works in outdoor environments.
- Frequently works in indoor environments.

Expected Hours of Work & Travel
- This position is full time. Hours can vary based on the needs of the organization.
- This position must be able to work weekends and after hour events as needed.
