About the Role:
The Stewarding Supervisor plays a critical role in ensuring the cleanliness, organization, and efficient operation of all stewarding activities within accommodation and food service establishments. This position is responsible for overseeing the stewarding team to maintain high standards of hygiene and sanitation in compliance with health and safety regulations. The Stewarding Supervisor coordinates the cleaning and maintenance of kitchen equipment, utensils, and dining areas to support smooth food service operations. They also manage inventory control for cleaning supplies and kitchenware, ensuring resources are used efficiently and replenished timely. Ultimately, this role contributes significantly to creating a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for both staff and guests, enhancing overall customer satisfaction.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in stewarding or a related role within the accommodation and food services industry.
- Basic knowledge of sanitation and safety regulations applicable to food service environments.
- Proven leadership or supervisory experience managing a team.
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in food safety or sanitation (e.g., ServSafe or equivalent).
- Experience with inventory management and ordering systems.
- Previous experience working in a high-volume hotel, restaurant, or catering environment.
- Strong familiarity with OSHA regulations and workplace safety standards.
- Additional training in team leadership or hospitality management.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and lead the stewarding team to ensure all cleaning and sanitation tasks are completed effectively and on schedule.
- Maintain compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards as per local and federal regulations.
- Coordinate the cleaning and maintenance of kitchen equipment, utensils, and dining areas to support operational efficiency.
- Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and kitchenware, placing orders and controlling usage to minimize waste.
- Train new stewarding staff on proper cleaning procedures, safety protocols, and equipment handling.
- Conduct regular inspections of stewarding areas to identify and address any issues promptly.
- Collaborate with kitchen and food service management to ensure seamless operations and timely support.
- Prepare reports on stewarding activities, staff performance, and supply usage for management review.
