Position Summary & Highlights:
This MA position will help support patient care delivery as part of a busy team that includes a Surgeon, 2 Physician Assistants, Surgery Scheduler, and will work with 2 other MAs in the General Surgery and Bariatrics clinic.
The surgeons are in clinic 2 to 3 days per week and in surgery on the other days. The MAs are busy rooming patients during the days when the surgeon is in and busy performing chart prep preparing for the next day when the surgeon is in surgery.
Our surgical teams are experts in minimally invasive and robotic surgery, and in advanced subspecialty disciplines including General Surgery, Esophageal Health and Reflux, Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, Colorectal Surgery and Surgical Oncology.

CNA and EMT certifications will not count towards an MA certification.
What Will You Do:
In addition to rooming patients, you will complete chart prep and occasionally assist with minor procedures.
You will also perform patient follow up, managing in-basket tasks, assist with referrals, and conduct prior authorizations.
You will also be crossed-trained on surgery scheduling to be able to assist with this when needed and also support other surgical provider teams when needed due to call outs/staffing needs.
The Surgeon for this team believes in allowing the clinical staff to work at the top of their scope of practice and enjoys teaching his staff so you will develop a good understanding of the variety of surgeries and why they are helpful to patients.
On that note, with this specialty clinic MAs do not perform lab draws, injections, or related skills.

Work Schedule:
40 hours/week, Mondays through Thursdays, 7:45am to 4:45pm, and Fridays, 7:45am to 1:45pm.
Shift start and end times are subject change based on providers' schedules and clinic staffing needs.

Boise Clinic: 1072 N Liberty St Ste 300, Boise, Idaho 83704
Located on the Boise Regional Medical Center campus, off of I-184 and Curtis Road
Outreach clinics take place on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of each month at the Caldwell Health Plaza and Eagle Health Plaza, and on the 2nd and 4th Fridays each month at the Nampa General Surgery clinic on the Nampa Medical Center campus.
Outreach clinics occur from 7:45am – 12:00pm. Staff can finish their hours at the outreach location or return to the Boise clinic.

Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent required at hire.
MA certification required within 90 days of hire from one of the following Saint Alphonsus approved agencies:
American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA)
American Medical Technologists (RMA)
National Healthcare Association (CCMA)
National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA)
National Association of Health Professionals (NRCMA)
American Medical Certification Association (CMAC)
National Phlebotomy Certification Examination (NPCE MA)
New Graduates: 1) MA certificate of completion required from an accredited program or school. 2) Completion of either a 100-hour MA externship or 6 months MA experience in lieu of the externship hours even with MA certification.
Medical Assistant with Experience: 1 Year of MA experience OR Current MA Certification OR obtain or renew certification within 90 days from hire from approved credentialing agencies listed above.
Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from either AHA, ARC or the Military Training Network is required at hire.
*Obtaining the MA certification typically requires completing an MA Program or working as a Medical Assistant for at least 1 year. See each of the credentialing organization sites for additional details. EMT and CNA certifications will not count towards an MA certification.
