Manages the development and delivery of health and wellness programs, including group exercise, personal training, and wellness initiatives. Recruits, hires, trains, and supports wellness staff and instructors to ensure high-quality program delivery. Responsibilities include onboarding and ongoing staff development, scheduling, and performance management; designing and implementing wellness programming; budget planning and monitoring; and ensuring compliance with all regulatory and Association standards. This role serves as an entry-level management position, with scope determined by the size, membership base, and overall wellness offerings of the branch.

What You’ll Do
- Delivers health and wellness programs and services to support member engagement, program growth, and YMCA mission impact.
- Implements strategies that foster connection among members, program participants, and the YMCA community.
- Provides input into the development and management of program and/or branch budgets as requested by leadership.
- Recruits, hires, trains, schedules, and supervises part-time staff and volunteers within assigned wellness programs.
- Oversees payroll processes for the health and wellness team.
- Provides leadership, communication, and ongoing support to part-time staff and instructors.
- Supports branch community campaign efforts as needed.
- Ensures compliance with all applicable state and local regulations.
- Maintains adherence to YMCA Association standards, program quality expectations, and all safety procedures.
- Ensures delivery of high-quality, innovative health and wellness programming.
- Coordinates special events, wellness challenges, and program-related activities as needed.
- Collects, maintains, and submits program data, rosters, schedules, and reports as required.
- Responds to and resolves member concerns to enhance satisfaction and engagement.
- Develops and maintains partnerships with community organizations to expand wellness outreach and impact.
- Ensures compliance with all YGBW policies and standard operating procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
What You'll Need
- Bachelor’s degree in Health and Wellness, Exercise Science, Recreation, or a related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of two years of related experience in health and wellness, fitness programming, or a similar field preferred.
- Recognized Personal Training and/or Group Exercise certification required or preferred (as applicable to YMCA standards).
- Experience leading programs through the supervision and development of part-time staff and volunteers.
- Demonstrated experience working with and serving diverse populations.
- YMCA Team Leader certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; must be fluent in English.
- Ability to complete and maintain all required new hire certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire.
