Department Overview

In the FMCG business, we operate Rakuten24, Rakuten24 Drinks, Rakuten24 Healthcare, and other direct sales e-commerce services for daily necessities on Rakuten Ichiba, one of Japan's largest online shopping malls. We aim to maintain high growth rates in this large market and lead the e-commerce conversion rate for FMCG.

To support our rapid business growth, we are looking for a marketing manager who can develop and execute data-driven, technology-driven marketing strategies and achieve business goals while engaging the entire organization.
We are looking for someone who will not only execute measures, but also lead the creation of new market opportunities, maximize organizational capabilities, and build systems that support future business growth.
In particular, we expect the candidate to be able to maximize the performance of their subordinates (planning, execution, and management leads) in charge of individual marketing measures, and to incorporate their knowledge into business strategies.

 

Position Details

As head of the marketing department that is driving this rapid growth, you will be responsible for leading the transformation of the entire market by utilizing Rakuten's big data and cutting-edge technology to maximize sales and profits in the daily necessities sector and continuously increase the number of service users. You will work in collaboration with the Planning, Execution, and Management Lead under you to optimize daily marketing initiatives and direct the strategic growth of the entire business.

Main business activities
1. Planning and Execution of Marketing Strategies
Design overall marketing strategies to achieve business goals, develop execution plans, monitor progress, and optimize.
Identify new business opportunities based on market analysis (competitors, customer trends, new technologies, etc.) and incorporate them into strategies.

Create roadmaps and lead execution to maximize sales and profits for large-scale projects.
Integrate the results of campaigns and promotions driven by planning, execution, and management leads and provide feedback to higher-level strategies.

2. Promote Data-Driven Marketing
In addition to advanced purchase and visit data analysis, build and promote a multifaceted analytical platform by integrating external data.
Incorporate a cycle of hypothesis building, verification, and improvement based on analysis results throughout the organization.
Plan, develop, and lead operations for personalized advertising, recommendations, and CRM initiatives using AI/machine learning.
Oversee data analysis and effectiveness verification of individual initiatives, and manage departmental performance. Contribute to overall data utilization strategy and technology implementation.

3. Organizational Management and Talent Development
Set organizational goals, manage performance, and evaluate the marketing team.
Develop and implement development plans and support career development for team members (including assistant managers and planning, execution, and management leads).
Improve motivation, team building, and engagement among team members with diverse backgrounds.
In particular, support the planning, execution, and management leads in developing their capabilities to drive their work autonomously and consistently lead from data analysis to strategy formulation, execution, and effectiveness measurement. Implement intentional delegation and feedback to prepare them for their next leadership position.

4. Inter-departmental Collaboration and External Partnership Building
Strengthen collaboration with related internal departments (AI data, development, sales, business management, etc.) and lead cross-departmental projects.
Promote collaboration to create strategic alliances and intra-group synergies.

5. Risk Management and Rapid Decision-Making
Monitor changes in the market environment, competitive trends, and technology trends and assess their impact on the business.
Make speedy and appropriate decisions and flexibly adjust strategies under highly uncertain circumstances.

Work Environment

Organizational Structure
- 6 men, 2 women, total 8 people
- Age range: 20s-30s

Mandatory Qualifications:

- 8+ years of work experience and 5+ years of marketing experience (experience in e-commerce preferred)
- 3+ years of management experience (team leader or above), particularly experience in training and mentoring assistant managers and lead-level subordinates
- Advanced data aggregation and analysis skills using SQL, and experience in data-based strategy planning and execution
- Excellent logical thinking, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Negotiation and leadership skills to communicate smoothly with diverse stakeholders and build consensus

Desired Qualifications:

- Experience planning and executing CRM strategies for large-scale e-commerce sites
- Experience implementing and operating personalized advertising and marketing automation tools
- Broad digital marketing knowledge, including SEO / SEM, social media marketing, and content marketing
- Experience developing new businesses and launching services
- Project management experience and track record
- Knowledge of organization-wide data strategies and technology implementation
