Maintenance Manager
Where will you work: -K2, Esterhazy, Saskatchewan, Canada
About the role
Accountable for maintenance execution, workflow effectiveness and reliability partnership, ensuring safe, reliable, and cost-effective plant operations. Provides direct leadership to all Maintenance Superintendents and maintains a dotted-line relationship with Reliability to ensure alignment of asset strategies, preventative maintenance, and long-term equipment health. Acts as the site capital liaison for maintenance, including maintenance and turnaround budgeting, spend control, and turnaround calendar development and prioritization.
What will you do?
Maintenance Leadership & Execution:
Lead and manage all Maintenance Superintendents, ensuring consistent execution of maintenance strategies, work management processes, and performance standards across the site.
Own maintenance execution, including preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance, with a strong focus on mechanical integrity and asset availability.
Ensure effective workflow management, including planning, scheduling, backlog control, and work prioritization to support production and reliability objectives.
Budgeting and Turnaround:
Serve as the site maintenance capital liaison, responsible for maintenance and turnaround budgeting, forecasting, and spending control.
Lead the development and execution of the turnaround calendar, scope prioritization, and resource alignment in partnership with Operations, Reliability, and site leadership.
Maintain accountability for maintenance and turnaround spend balancing cost control with long-term asset health and operational reliability.
Closely monitor the MRO process, including slow and non-moving warehouse parts and overall parts management.
Reliability Performance:
Partner closely with the Reliability function to align maintenance execution with asset strategies, reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), defect elimination, and long-term asset health.
Ensure feedback and defects are being prioritized, critical failures are investigated and actioned to drive process improvement, and asset strategies are followed.
Ensure reliability insights are translated into actionable maintenance plans and sustained through disciplined execution.
Support reliability initiatives by reinforcing data quality, work order feedback, and asset performance monitoring.
Mechanical Integrity & Asset Integrity:
Partner closely with the Mechanical Integrity function to ensure systems and processes are in place to protect asset integrity, reduce unplanned downtime, and mitigate operational risk.
Lead maintenance-driven root cause problem solving equipment failures and chronic issues.
What do you need for this role?
Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline, such as Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Mining Engineering
10 + years of experience in manufacturing, mining, chemical processing, or related industrial environments
Experience in people leadership roles within operations or engineering functions
Strong knowledge of potash milling, fertilizer production, or similar process industries
Experience in managing maintenance performance in operations.
People leadership experience.
Proven experience in cross-functional collaboration to achieve results.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to lead cross functional groups and influence at all levels.
Strong business acumen, strategic thinking, and ability to manage competing priorities.
Excellent communication skills and ability to build trust, relationships, and alignment across departments.
