Job Summary:

Provides treatment for patients with physical, emotional, cognitive, and/or psychosocial deficits which impact their abilities to successfully perform independent living skills.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Implements an established treatment plan using appropriate modalities.

  • Documents subjective and objective findings of patient progress.

  • Seeks consultation as necessary.

  • Monitors patient's responses to the treatment plan.

  • Regularly communicates patient progress and possible goal revisions to registered occupational therapist.

  • Educates the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits.

  • Assists with patient discharge planning.

  • Provides information regarding appropriate selection/use of adaptive equipment and community support programs.

  • Oversees the care provided by therapy technicians according to established licensing laws, state regulations, and OT practice standards.

  • Supervises OTA students completing clinical rotations.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.

  • Works under direct supervision.

  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Position Requirements:

Work Experience

  • No experience required

Education

  • Associate's degree or higher in Occupational Therapy Assistant required upon hire

Licensure/Certification/Registration

  • OTA - Licensed as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in the state of Kentucky required upon hire AND

  • BLS - Certified as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider required within 90 days of employment in this position
