Job Summary

The Director of Global Compliance & Safety provides strategic leadership for the company’s global safety, social, and environmental compliance programs across owned manufacturing facilities and the supply chain. This role partners with senior leadership to manage risk, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and customer expectations, and foster a culture of service and safety.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Social Compliance Strategy & Risk Management (50%)

  • Define and execute the goals, strategies, and measures for the company’s global social and environmental compliance program in alignment with business objectives and sourcing operations.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable local, national, and international labor and human rights laws and regulations, occupational health and safety standards, and customer/licensor codes of conduct.
  • Lead the development and oversight of global compliance KPIs, dashboards, and executive reporting to drive transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee global audit and remediation processes, including risk assessments, internal and third‑party audits, root cause analyses, and customer/licensor audits.
  • Strengthen and manage supply chain grievance mechanisms to ensure accessible, timely, and effective reporting and resolution.
  • Partner with Sourcing and Supply Chain to integrate social and environmental compliance standards and metrics into business processes and supplier scorecards.
  • Lead the cotton traceability process to mitigate forced labor risk and ensure UFLPA and import compliance.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in responsible sourcing, sustainability, and ESG, and engage with key customers, licensors, NGOs, and industry associations. Ensure FLA and Accord participation requirements are met.

Safety Leadership and Management (50%)

  • Lead and manage execution of the global HSE strategic plan, monitoring progress against goals and KPIs, adjusting priorities as needed to address emerging risks and business needs.
  • Own day‑to‑day oversight of global incident management processes within VelocityEHS, ensuring team members are trained and consistently reporting incidents, near misses, and hazards, conducting root‑cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Monitor incident data for trends, overdue actions, and repeat issues; follow up directly with site leaders to drive accountability.
  • Ensure required safety training is completed on time, properly documented, and aligned with site‑specific risks. Work with site safety leaders to identify training gaps and refresh content based on incidents, audits, and observed behaviors.
  • Manage the implementation and ongoing rollout of safety card programs that encourage proactive hazard identification and employee engagement.
  • Plan and execute safety campaigns, coordinate materials and messaging, and track participation and outcomes at the site level.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in global safety, social compliance, responsible sourcing, or sustainability; apparel or consumer goods experience strongly preferred.
  • Proven leadership experience managing global programs, teams, and complex stakeholder relationships.
  • Deep working knowledge of international labor standards, workplace health & safety systems, human rights frameworks, environmental compliance, and supply chain governance.
  • Strong strategic thinking, risk management, and decision‑making skills.
  • Ability to influence at the executive level while engaging effectively with frontline teams and suppliers.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally as required.

 

Work Environment:

  • Hybrid, Office: This position will be hybrid/remote, based out of our Kannapolis location. The typical schedule for a hybrid role is Mondays and Fridays work from home and Tuesdays through Thursdays on location/in office.

 

Work Hours:

  • Full-Time: Monday-Friday, 8:00AM-5:00PM
