Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:
The Mammography Tech provides patient services breast imaging under the supervision of a qualified doctor of medicine. Performs technical procedures to obtain radiographic films of various portions of the body using recognized radiographical techniques to assist physicians in diagnosis of diseases and injuries with a minimum of ionizing radiation being applied. Exhibits the F.I.R.S.T. values (Friendliness, Innovation, Respect, Service, and Trust).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepares and performs patient procedures.
- Performs patient examination to ensure the delivery of quality care.
- Maintains accurate departmental records.
- Maintains professional development and education.
- Contributes to the efficient operation of the department.
- Coordinates scheduling of out-patients to achieve ultimate outcomes.
- Responsible for radiation protection for self, patients, and general public, using ALARA principles.
- Considers the age of the patients served, applies knowledge of growth and development and age-specific techniques through the life span (neonates/infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics) in planning and implementing care.

WORKING CONDITIONS, HAZARDS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Works in a radiation exposure area. Exposure to infectious materials, cuts, and abrasions from equipment. A flexible work schedule is required. Constant physical activity. Strenuous activity involved moving equipment and positioning patients. Must be able to move 25 lbs. independently.
CONTACTS WITH OTHERS:
Has contact with patients, visitors, medical staff, and all other departments within the facility.
EQUIPMENT USED/SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
Ability to operate radiation exposure equipment and computers.
