Project Engineer- Dyess AFB
***Work Location: Fort Hood, TX***
Salary: Based on experience and will be discussed with manager in interview
REQUIREMENT- Must be a US Citizen and must pass a federal background review and drug screen
 
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Manage and oversee construction projects from planning and design through construction, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Monitor project schedules, budgets, milestones, and performance metrics to ensure successful project execution.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and government stakeholders to resolve technical and construction-related issues.
  • Review contract documents, drawings, specifications, schedules, submittals, and shop drawings for compliance and constructability.
  • Analyze contractor schedules and project progress to identify potential delays and recommend corrective actions.
  • Review and evaluate contractor quality control, environmental, and safety programs for compliance with contract requirements.
  • Conduct site inspections and field reviews to verify construction quality, workmanship, and adherence to project specifications.
  • Prepare correspondence regarding contractor performance, Requests for Information (RFIs), Requests for Equitable Adjustments (REAs), modifications, and technical issues.
  • Assist with contract administration activities, including scope development, cost estimates, proposal reviews, and contract modifications.
  • Participate in project meetings, partnering sessions, progress meetings, and stakeholder briefings.
  • Monitor compliance with applicable federal, Department of Defense (DoD), Air Force, and USACE regulations and standards.
  • Prepare monthly project status reports, progress updates, and executive-level briefings for customers and project leadership.
  • Assist with facility sustainment, modernization, and infrastructure improvement initiatives supporting Air Force mission requirements.
  • Support project closeout activities, including punch-list development, final inspections, turnover documentation, and warranty tracking.
  • Manage and oversee construction projects from planning and design through construction, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Host and support customer site visits, project tours, and technical presentations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, Architectural Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of construction management, engineering, or project management experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE), Engineer-in-Training (EIT), Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Construction Manager (CCM), or similar professional certification is preferred.
  • Experience supporting U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Department of Defense (DoD), Air Force, or other federal construction programs.
  • Experience with Military Construction (MILCON), Sustainment, Restoration, Modernization (SRM), and facility infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex construction projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, engineering principles, scheduling, quality assurance, and contract administration.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, plans, specifications, schedules, and technical documents.
  • Familiarity with Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), EM 385-1-1, FAR/DFARS, and other federal construction standards.
  • Experience with airfield, aviation, warehouse, dormitory, utility, healthcare, or mission-critical facilities is highly desirable.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, presentations, and technical correspondence.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively coordinate with clients, contractors, government personnel, and project stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain access to military installations.
